Hi everyone! Holy sheeze! 79 pages on this topic alone!
I released v1.61.
Changelog: TwitLonger: psx4droid v1.6 released. Changelog: - Put sound on it's own thread. Smoother sound playback. Especia
Guide/FAQ by Therev29 (thanks!): TwitLonger: For psx4droid newcomers, I have a treat for you. Therev29 wrote up a very complete #psx4droid guide!
v1.6 was released moments before v1.61. I had to fix a memory card file path issue real quick.
Right now I'm working on some sound issues that I still need to squash. Sometimes sound plays too fast or too slow, and can depend on the speed of the device and it's firmware's audio buffer size.
For instance Final Fantasy 7's background music runs slower than it should. This will be fixed.
I am interested in hearing whether certain games changed in performance (both down and up) drastically since v1.5. Comparison to v1.1 would be interesting to know too.
I am also considering including a show fps/vsync option in either developer versions I can distribute to you guys or make it a public feature. I have been cautious to make the feature public since if I fudge with timings / cycle counting in the emulator the framerate displayed can be misleading.
Put simply for example, I can make a build that draws 200 frames per second, but only have the game's logic update once within that second. So your character on the screen would move one frame but the 199 other frames are the same.
People could see 200 fps with 199 wasted frames drawn to the screen sucking up CPU time that could be used for PSX CPU emulation and compare it to a build that runs at 60 fps. If the 60 fps build in this example updates the game every 60 frames, it is actually running the game faster than that 200 fps example. So fps can be misleading when it comes to timings and IRQs. Fun stuff.
Feel free to chat with me on Twitter, especially if I wander back into work and forget to update forums. I'm @zodttd
Thanks!

Hey zodttd,
1.5 seemed to work better for me. FF7 now has slower sound in latest update as said, chrono cross plays abysmally slow with slomo sound. CGI sequences in chrono cross, klonoa, are fast with sound fast in sync but ingame is slow, FF7 CGI is too fast and sound is normal not in sync. Parasite Eve has fast abnormal cgi but ingame is normal until you enounter random battle, then it becomes slow..mind you, everything was faster before. Also there's a bug where the emu just won't exit without a manual shut down. I'm using a tmobile G2 HTC droid 2.2 OCed to 1.45 GHZ. I've tried both stock and oc speeds. Could it be a compatibility issue with my phone since it just came out october 6?
Tried all settings in psx4droid to change but nogo.
Dude what tweaks are you referring to?....I load straight from memory card not save states. Parasite eve slows down mid fight and remember, it did not happen in 1.5...nothings changed since then, and id expect improvement over drawback, also it doesn't close right away sometimes still running in the background...another guy having the same issue with a different phone...two questions:
What are your settings for psx4droid 1.61?
What do you mean by tweaks?
Nope, no tweaks enabled....weatherbug is closed, and still slowing down drastically during fight scenes in PE, cgis are still retardedly unstable (as in normal with fast over speedups for no reason). All rpgs and games have overall slowed down. It must be something dealing with the way psx4droid 1.61 is reading my tmobile G2s cpu or something. There's no reason for this to be happening on THIS version, and not 1.5, unless a compatibility in the code withdrew my phone from achieving the speeds its capable of

No that's okay I thank you so much for your quick acknowledgment of the subject..btw is there anyway to contact the author of psx4droid or if you know him...to address I guess?...maybe the sound fix he's going to make in a later patch, will fix my issue altogether?
