Yep foxfi is working for me! My laptop vpn works through it too. No root on the verizon RAZR.

PDA net works to as a backup.

Foxfi is awesome. I just dl'd it, turned it on, and connected my wife's phone via wifi. And I have no root. Thanks for the heads up on this app.

Yes, you are. I had to reboot my phone a couple of times to get it working properly, but check the box in the application to start the tethering and wait for it to say it's connected (it can take several seconds). From there you should not have to touch anything else on your phone. At one point I had the icon in my menu bar and when I clicked on that it seemed to redirect me to the Verizon verification page so you don't want to do that. To clarify...using the FoxFi app you will have that icon in your menu bar, but don't USE that icon to activate anything. You only turn it on and off from within the FoxFi app itself.

So reboot your phone and try it again using just the app, then do a scan with your device you are trying to connect. It DOES work with the Razr Maxx (that's what I have) and therefore should with the Razr.

Also, be careful when it prompts you to update the app....read the comments first, the update may end up charging you.....ie, "city id" (for those of you who remember that app)...lol

I added foxfi and turned on wifi hotspot and it isn't showing up on my devices. When I turn on mobile hotspot it wants me to pay Verizon 30 extra to activate. How are you guys getting around this?

You have to be doing it wrong, are you going into applications and opening foxfi? or are you trying to turn on verizon hotspot (which would be wrong)?
