Razr v. Nexus upgrade

The main reason why Motorola made the razor Max was because of its poor battery life! Lmao seriously, the same ph! 2+2=4! Duh!

Everyone do yourself a favor jump on the nexus. You won't be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I was going to buy a razor. I just didn't want another droid charge that needed to be charged every 4 hrs. I keep my ph on 4g all day everyday! I'm stock, not rooted and I get between 10-12 hrs of medium usage. For a ph that has a stock battery in it that's pretty dam good. You guys do what you want I'm just giving opinions. I love the screen on the razor but at the same time I loved the screen on my droid charge to. It only gets you so far.

Let's see let's compare a ph that had to be upgraded to a larger battery because people were complaining from start to finish razor would be dead in 5 hrs. After all why would Motorola make the same ph with a bigger battery.

Maybe you people need to get your specs correct, nexus is the largest display of any ph to this day! Get it right! Do your homework. Razor mazz, come on now! Yeah I wanna buy a bulky ph that weighs a ton.

There is no way anyone can get 12 hrs off a stock razor! Stop lying! Tiny little battery!

Think what you want. I get 12+ hours without a problem, so do other stock Razr owners.

The MAXX is far from bulky, and weighs less than my D2G. I don't mind a few more grams of weight, and a mm or so of extra thickness in order to make battery life a non issue for myself. Hate the RAZR all you want Mark, but alot of people will think it's the best device for their needs. I couldn't be happier with my choice.

Just like every other thread of this nature, the OP needs to decide for himself.

mark, my wife's razr maxx is lighter and thinner then my nexus with extended battery. Concerning the screens, I won't argue that nexus has a better screen but it comes with a price. For example: constant screen on my nexus with extended battery will die in approximately 4-5 hours, in contrast when we first got maxx I spent 4 hours that night setting up the phone and it went from 50 to 30%. That is a huge difference. I love my nexus but I also love my wife's maxx.

I know of the best way of settling this issue: my dad can beat up your dad. Seriously though, anyone that can get this charged up and self righteous over a phone needs some meds. Take a pill, your phone's the best.

Both phones have their advantages and disadvantages: blur, ICS, screen size, thinness, blah, blah, blah.

It all comes down to what works best for you. I'll be upgrading from a Droid X and will choose the Razr for 2 reasons:

1) The durability of the X is awesome. I drop my phone a couple times a week from varying heights and the dam thing keeps going. If the Razr is half as durable as the X then it's one tough phone.

2) The messaging widget from blur is the best one around. I receive multiple exchange and gmail emails a day and the widget is awesome for scrolling through them quickly.

I will miss the customization of the Nexus but oh well.

Even with an otter box defender... my maxx is a sleek thin phone. With the defender it feels better to me though... but I'm 6 foot 7... so a phone as small as the maxx to my brain.... just feels weak and flimsy.. but its not. Its just how my brain correlates thin objects. Like a smaller person probably feels like a bionic inside a defender case is big and cumbersome... clumsy. But to me it feels about right. Size is subjective to the user. I feel even worse about the nexus... it feels like I'm gonna snap it if I tap too hard on the screen.

And I have a very refined touch from playing the guitar, mandolin, violin, cello.... the list goes on.

Obviously you have no idea what your talking about! The screen on the nexus is bigger than the razor. 4.65 compared to the 4.5 in of the razor! Quality overall nexus is the winner! Battery totally sucks in the razor. Nexus gets better usage than any ph I've used! I get 10 hrs on the standard battery using it moderately during the day. Nexus 2 thumbs up!

Sound like you are trying to justify your purchase of the GN. Razr has better quality, better hardware, better signal, better call quality, and camera is just about as fast since the update. As far as the screen being bigger, it has to be to hold the buttons, and they take up more than the .15 inch difference. I get 12+ hours on my standard Razr, and can actually make a call anytime I want to.
Razr beats GN on Quadrant right now without ICS, and the gap will widen when it does get ICS. Razr is just a faster, snappier phone.

TBH , I've been seeing a lot of that recently. For some reason Nexus owners are trolling Razr forums trying to convince Razr owners that their phone is inferior. I'm not sure if it's buyers remorse or what.

I know for me, I compared my Razr side-by-side with the Nexus the day the Nexus launched since I was still within my return period. I just preferred the Razr.

Actually I am a advid Motorola fan.I still have my droid x. I use it today for its mp3. I like there Phs. Its just that I didn't want to fall into the wow its thin thing and get stuck with a ph that has poor battery life because they couldn't put a big enough battery in that paper thin ph. Now if I knew it was good on battery life I would have thought twice. I think I made a good choice. Nexus is really superior to most all phones out today. I think the razor is a good ph but when you come down to it its still gingerbread, 4.3 in display. Been there did that. I wanted something different from the norm.

You don't have to explain to us that you really want a MAXX. Lol

Enjoy your Nexus. :)

I wouldn't mind switching to a maxx from time to time. Only the maxx though cuz the OG RAZR has zero appeal to me.

The usable area on the GNex is 4.3" due to the soft buttons, the battery life is the same or worse than the RAZR (non-Maxx, mind), and the RAZR will get ICS. I'm not a flashoholic, anymore, so the Nexus really has little appeal for me. Also, there's not much coming on ICS that I can't already do. Glad we have choices, though; unlike some OS brands out there. The RAZR, Nexus, and Rezound are all awesome devices, and the differences are pretty much down to preference.
