[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

Thank's chevy for our first rom. EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO BE ON .890!!!! I didn't and was rushing to get to school and did everything without checking my version. Nor did I make sure I had a good charge. I started with >30% and got stuck on a boot loop. Then When I tried to go threw ap quick flash I didn't have enough battery to program. And being soft bricked couldn't charge

Fortunately I have friend that owns a verizon and he swapped out mine with a brand new d3 battery. But now is all good in my little android world. After having to deal with my girls old busted ass eris since she is using my og. Loving this rom so far and might flash a steel droid rom on my og to try out even though I have been a bb faithful since rooting.

Steel Droid Has Been Installed

I got it installed!!!!!!:icon_ banana: I have to admit that I was nervous about my first rom install, however things went very smooth. Better than I had thought. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this great rom. You have a nice donation coming your way, sir.

so I have been following this thread since it began and finally had time to get around to actually performing, Im on step5, holding volume +/- and its only taking me to 'safe mode' not bootloader, any suggestions?

I'm trying to run the root now and its having problems not seeing the adb. I've tried both versions and adb error in both???????

Steel Droid now complete :D

I would definetly consider myself a noob to droid rooting, I have only known rooting exsisted for about 10days, took that time to research terminology and figure out what I was actually getting into. Just have to say I had about 30 heart attacks while my phone failed time and time again to bootload, tried to bail a few times and had a brick on my hands.

BUT I do have to say coming from an amature, those where definetly great directions!

And about the bootload I found if you remove the battery hold 'M' then hit power, the loader menu comes up almost instantly -just a tip for any other noobies.

Thanks again everyone! Honestly does sound more complacated then it really is

I would not flash anything without your battery in. Also should be instant with battery as well.

Sorry, meant to say,
-remove battery
-hold 'M'
-replace battery (still holding M)
-hit power

The bootloader menu wasn't coming up without taking the battery out for me for some reason

I am am grateful im just saying if it looks the same i should have waited cause a couple of the apps i used i had to reinstall or some still dont work.

We are all great full for the first rom but for me I would like to know why should I do this? I know that it very new and its not themed yet I know that it will be but what advantages does this have over stock as of now. Roms on my old phone the dx made it way faster. When I hear rom I think a faster experience and themes. I can't wait to see how he themes it im looking forward to it.

Same here. I flashed it just to see what it was like then flashed back to stock and im gonna wait for when were able to theme it. BTw how close are you to releasing the new version of it anyway?

What is the difference between this rom and the original rom?

I'm finish the installation right now and can't see the diference, only the aplication FM Radio

The difference are listed on the very first post with the directions, it looks are feels the same at this point, the biggest thing is the removal of the bloatware, I.e. all the VZW apps that you never use that just use up resources. Like stated above, this is just the first version. If you want to theme it use something like GO Launcher, they have some pretty cool, customization options.
