[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

I see I see, so kind of like, -and I hate to use the 'M' word here- but similar to the way Mac can dual boot Windows or iOS

I have flashed and used Steel Droid 3, Monster Rom and Liberty Rom. Liberty rom felt really snappy among he three but I experienced too quick battery drain issue. Monster rom also had battery issue.

In my experiment, Steel Droid 3 is the best rom so far in terms of battery life and snappiness. I am really pleased with this rom other than Google Talk not working.

Thanks.

New to Rooting

Hey, I have the Droid X 2, and I would like to root my phone and make it a better phone. Can anyone help me with me getting 3.0 on my phone? Or if it is compatible?

This rom is for the Droid 3 ONLY, you could possibly brick your phone by flashing this on a DX2. Look in the DX2section for roms specific for your phone.

Google Talk not working? I use it 24/7. What issues are you having with it?

Sorry if it seems that I have diappeared, but I have been working on my Droid 1 v9.0 release. Its taking quite a bit of time, and has been an extra learning experience for me. It wont be out for about a week or more, but its definitly getting close to release. I have not forgotten about the D3. Actually, some of the stuff I am doing to the D1 version, will be in the D3 version once I get things ironed out on the D1.

I get FCs all the time. I tried installing Gtalk 1.3 installer app several times and other Gtalk zip files found on XDA forum. No luck yet.

Thanks.

Have you tried going in with Root Explorer and seeing installing it? I use Gtalk all the time and have never had any issues, and I think your the 1st person I've heard mention having an issue while on SDv3, so its possible you've had a bad flash somewhere and something isn't agreeing with the app.

Yes, I do have talk.apk in sys/app with rwrr permission and another file (I fotgot the name of it) in system/lib.

Edit: I just checked the 2nd file needed: it is libtalk_jni.so in system/lib

Thanks.

If your still having problems, can you goto the Steel Droid theme thread and download and flash the Bionic Blu theme? It has a themed gtalk in it. I just wanna see if that works for you. If it does just backup the app and data with TiBu and go back to your current setup and restore.

I am new to this theme flashing. Does this new theme replace or add to what is already in SD3. It does not take any away what is already there, correct?
I also assume that this theme is compatible with SD3. So if I like the new theme, I can obviously keep it, unless it creates battery issues or anything.

Is my understanding above correct?

Thanks for your help.

It does work I had it for awhile. It does replace the notification bar and themesthe dialer and market along with other small things.
