Rhapsody beta

^^ I missed that one too... lol

And yah, try Rhapsody free for 7 days... nothing to lose really. 1 subscription lets you install the application on 3 PC's, and download music (free) to up to 3 MP3 players. Myself, my GF, and my mother all share mine.

I can also log in from any PC, and have my whole music collection right there.

Worth a try, it costs the price of one CD a month.

I hope this isn't streaming.... I rather have the ability to transfer it to my Droid and listen without having to stream it. I use to have it when I had my Sansa, but since I lost my cord, I gave up on it.

You can already do that with the subscription, transfer music to the device.

The whole point of this is to be streaming, so you don't have to load it on the phone and waste storage. I can keep more than what's on my 120GB MP3 player at my fingertips, without using any storage, once this app comes out.

I disagree, I would rather be able to use Rhapsody to go, so that I can load music I want to hear and be able to listen to even if I am not connected the Verizon network. Being able to do both would be cool but just streaming is damn near useless to me.

^^ You can already do this, maybe not from the app... but Rhapsody's always allowed you to transfer music from the PC to a portable device (3 differnt ones actually), so just load what you want from the PC, and stream from the app, seems easy enough.

you don't need a special player though to play songs downloaded from rhapsody on your device?

@ searayman - it should work with most MP3 players (sans iPod probably). I use a creative MP3 player for mine, my GF used to use her LG dare, and my mother uses a Sansa MP3 player.

@ grapeape - really? I haven't tried yet personally with the Droid (been using Pandora, or my massive MP3 player for that), but if you mount the phone on the PC does rhapsody not recognize the Droid?

Wow... well then. :-/

Must be because of how it mounts the phone as a drive, the system probably doesn't differentiate that it's a music player, just another drive. Makes sense I suppose.

I can imagine that syncing through the app would annihilate the battery though. I do think it would be a cool feature, although not a deal breaker, I'll be happy being able to stream in any event.

Also I think the Droid is not able to play DRM'd media. The Rhapsody files contain DRM. On the Dare the files would stop working after about 30 days and required a resynch to the server for them to work again.

Thx Grapeape, finally someonde talking sense.

This is streaming and Rhapsody To Go only works (downloads) with a VERY small number of players.

Its a great service and I'm glad its coming.

No problem.

I used the app on the Touch and it's pretty nice, and it will be a welcome addition to the Droid. It'll be like having a music store with you where ever you go.

finally someone talking sense. ?. Common sense says it's a streaming app. If download was doable the app wouldn't be necessary.
