Rhapsody beta

Got my invite and it's a 7 day trial..... So much for it being beta and getting a few weeks to try it..It's also streaming..... I don't think I'm gonna like this..

You'll have a tough time finding an app like this that does allow you to download. I'm pretty sure that the Droid doesn't support DRM'd music. An app will not solve that.

bye bye. How many times must this be repeated, IT IS A STREAMING APP. I just assumed a basic level of comprehension on this, obviously I was wrong. Damn, just having a "Smart" phone doesn't imply the same as to ownership. PS It still rocks!

Hmmm...I need to check that out. I've been a Rhapsody subscriber for years, but if those are as good (and they're free) I'll jump ship.

I've always thought Rhapsody was a bargain at $15 or whatever it is a month. Keep in mind that the price includes unlimited downloads to a PC and/or MP3 player. The app is a nice bonus.

I would not pay the monthly fee just for the app. If you don't use it to download on other devices it would be kind of steep.

My bad if I was wrong about the no free downloads statement.

There's a rather important factor here. iMusic and Music Online have absolutely no legal rights to the music. Rhapsody is 100% legit. I write for a blog on this stuff.

If you don't mind illegal activity and artists not getting supported then feel free. With Rhapsody you are helping develop the future of music delivery. I used to do a lot of illegal / shady downloading but being legal with Rhapsody is great.

I've been a subscriber for years using my Sansa player. Don't tell me it's that hard to port it over and use a 30 day limit on it. That's how it worked on the Sansa. I don't understand how they make it sound so hard, to do on the Droid.

You have 30 days to reconnect your music player to your account or you lose the songs. Unless there's some legal loophole they have to go through it's just laziness on their part. Google OS isn't a close OS like Apple's.

I started this thread to let others know about a specific product. If you are unhappy with it may I suggest you contact Real/Rhapsody with your issues. How about starting your own thread and rag about it there. F**k me.

I was going to start a thread for the same reason, then I saw yours.

I was an idiot. I treated your post as if it were on some kind of...oh I don't know...some kind of discussion forum. I should have just worshiped it from afar.

As far as your last statement, I think I'll pass. Any takers? :icon_ devil:

True, true and true!

I hope this isn't streaming.... I rather have the ability to transfer it to my Droid and listen without having to stream it. I use to have it when I had my Sansa, but since I lost my cord, I gave up on it.

You can already do that with the subscription, transfer music to the device.

The whole point of this is to be streaming, so you don't have to load it on the phone and waste storage. I can keep more than what's on my 120GB MP3 player at my fingertips, without using any storage, once this app comes out.
This is my point also. I have a Zen vision m to download/transfer to. The app just isn't designed for that. Fixating on that functionality is not going to change anything. I have been searching, adding and listening to tracks away from my pc in a fraction of the time it would have taken to do so on the pc.

People really need to focus on the benefits of this app and understand the business model. Rhapsody's business model requires To Go in order to be used on mobile devices, plain and simple so not much discussion there. The charges made by the labels etc are higher for portable music and the To-Go fee covers it. I believe To-Go is only a couple of $$ more than the PC based one so it doesn't seen a big issue.

Regarding transferring songs to the Droid. As already stated it's a DRM issue. We don't see this on the iPhone or iTouch do we ??? and I think when we discuss Sansa players (which I have) we overlook the fact that iPod's, Zune's and other advanced devices can't get Rhapsody at all. Rhapsody has a deal with certain hardware vendors to provide their DRM, they don't and I suspect never will, have a deal like that for the Droid.

Now on their support forum they do say that they would like to provide the ability for some caching capability (not the same as downloading) but it's out there.

Focus on the positives, it's a great app, it's a "free' bonus to existing To-GO users, it lets you find "that song" that you want to listen to right there and then etc. etc.

I have made various suggestions as a beta tester. A few I can remember

* Order albums by year of release (or allow sort), at least display the order
* Integration with Last.FM
* Reorder the queue
