Ok.I see the file on my astro file manager in sdcard.It is a picture of files in an open box and says update2.Thats because when i downloaded it from my laptop the first one was on there the last time i downloaded it i assume.Now,my file options are details,open as,edit,send,and extract?What next,i never see anything that says move to root of sdcard?Thanks

I did it.Don't know what I did different but I now have red recovery! Thanks all.Now to read up download 2.9 and try theming when I get home.It's my understanding coming from 2.8 to 2.9 I should go into cwr and wipe all cache, data, and davlik files first.I didn't do that when I went from2.6 to 2.8 and it seemed to work?

You just download them to your phone and move them to the root of the sd card with a file manager. Boot into recovery (red) and flash it there.

Ok I have the voodoo kernel installed and want to go back to regular kernel cuz I am getting reboots. I follow these instructions correct...
HOW TO DISABLE VOODOO LAGFIX 1. Use Astro File Manager or Root Explorer app...open the app 2. Navigate to sdcard/Voodoo folder 3. Create a new blank FILE named disable_lagfix....NOT A FOLDER 4. Reboot phone IMPROTANT: THIS BOOT WILL TAKE EVEN LONGER THAN THE INSTALLATION OF VOODOO KERNEL BOOT...AGAIN, WAIT IT OUT!!!!! DO NOT PULL BATTERY.
Do I need to flash the stock kernel after? Do I create a new file with new file option in root explorer?

*nevermind figured it out. I am back to non voodoo kernel.
Ok the above instructions worked I believe because my quadrant is below 1000 now. What do I do with the voodoo folder on my sdcard? Do I just leave it the way it is or delete it?

No, touchwiz launcher is gone. There are no samsung widgets either.
