[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for Droid 2

For more info on calibrating your battery, it is requesting that you do it AFTER you have just flashed a new ROM or something over the existing ROM. So step by step...

- Get Battery Calibration app
- Charge to 100%
- Flash or re-flash ROM
- Charge to 100% again without break (make sure all apps and everything else has restored itself and everything has settled down before going for 100% charged)
- Take it off the charger
- Hit Battery Calibration button on the app
- Run down to 0% (or till it turns itself off)
- Recharge it WITHOUT turning the phone back on (what I mean by this is... when your phone is dead, put it on the charger and do not touch it at all... do not power it up WHILE it is charging)
- Once it has fully charged to 100% turn it on
- Test it out by using your phone the way you normally do and see how long it takes to get down to 30%

Advice: Just don't let it hit 20% or lower. That typically is not good for the battery regardless.

Oh....I've just been calibrating when at 100%. Thanks swagger, I'll give that a try!

You can't plug the phone in w/out turning it on w/CM7...the phone will power up as soon as you plug it in...

I personally would not do this...repeatedly running the battery down to zero is detrimental to its life/performance. That's from the battery geeks where I work, as well as what I've read when looking into this on the interweb.

Almost ready to convert- I love the whole cm7 setup, especially status bar mods- 1% battery and no clock.
But I tried 3 fresh installs already, really bad-bad battery life. Nothing unusual showing up in battery stats/usage. Even having wifi/gps/sync/data all Off, still drops like crazy. And using stock or extended battery calibrated, same results.

Previously my CM7 battery life was a little short of what I got on ZombieStomped, but not so different that it was an issue for me.

But lately I've had some issues w/faster drain....in my case one issue is that mediaserver is eating up battery life, and from my research it can happen when you have an image file/files (including thumbnails) that are corrupted. Still trying to figure out which images/files are causing that issue.

Some folks are posting very good battery life, so there appear to be some setup-specific issues here.

So after a clean sbf, full format, and fresh install of the 7/5 nightly I'm happy to say my battery life is improved. heavy use from setting up and I still have 70% after 5.5 hours, which is a drastic improvement over my last install.

As far as media server it could be from your google music beta?

Is there any theme/launcher that allows you to have blur gingerbread launcher. While I don't like some of the blur I do like the launcher better than adw or launcher pro and wanted to know if its possible to get it for cm7.

I just now noticed that by testing that procedure. Guess that's another bug to be sorted out by RevNumbers or JBirdVegas. You get better results with it powered off and charging. I don't know what the difference will be without the power off solution.

Not a bug, it's a moto enhancement that is just not supported by the Froyo kernel/CM combo, and from what I have heard won't be.

What do you like about it? I'm assuming the look, as the features are not nearly as robust as w/ADW or LP.

You might want to try GoLauncher EX...my wife uses and loves it on her DX...I'd certainly give it strong consideration, except there is a LPP widget that I use that I can't find a good substitute for....

I can't remember if anyone has ported it to run on other ROMs...you might want to google a bit and see what you can find.

Thanks. Well I guess I like the fact you can get right to the market while you are in the app drawer. Also, Is there a way to make adw go from the 2 custom app choices to have the 4 options and the 4 different apps? I know lp does but couldnt get it to work on adw.

You can get directly to the market from either ADW or LP...both have customizable sliding docks that can have multiple shortcuts to whatever apps you want there...

ADW has a setting for four (five total, including the app tray launch) icons...can't remember where it is, it's definitely there.

Between the three it's just about a toss-up...each has its merits and competing features, I'd try all three and see which you like the best, and IMHO all of them are better than the blur launcher as they allow for customizing the icon row/column sizes (e.g., 4x4, 4x5, 5x5...).

I believe I may have to try this. I've never performed a full format, yet I'm noticing a decrease in my battery performance. It seemed great when I first started.

After 2 hours and 16m of my phone basically sitting on the desk, my battery is down to 84%. Battery use shows android os as the top spot with 21% (cpu time 3m).

Does that sound right?
