[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for Droid 2

lol...that's why it says "unnoficial" which translates to unofficial. But anyway, these have been working just fine.

Apparently you missed my point. There is no point in using unofficial nightlies anymore. They are no different than the official.

thats not true, rev tries new things (ie. wifi timeout) and sometimes it gets pushed to the official nightlies, with the case of the wifi he stated on a different forum that he wasnt sure if it was going to make it to a official nightly

RevNumbers said:
that is correct :)
as long as the change doesn't create issues it'll stay in source, and if i get feedback that it fixes the issue I'll submit it for official
Not sure if this one will make it into official however, there is a built in way to change the wifi timeout but it requires modifying the settings.secure stuff and that's no fun, so we made it use a value in build.prop instead making it much easier for users to change it to fit their needs :)

I just download the one from the cyanogen forum or from ROM manager. But I bit the bullet and bought it.

Sent from my DROID2

The only difference between the official and unofficial nightlies at the moment is as noted above - unofficial has the wifi timeout set to 5 minutes in the build.prop file, hopefully to improve battery life.

Long Story short, I decided to try out liberty 2.01 and after coming from cm7 found it...lacking to say the least. So Now I'm back on the latest official cm, but my boot logo (the normal M one) still says liberty. Is there a quick and easy way I can change this back to the M?

Quick and easy? Use the Liberty Toolbox (yes, it works even if you aren't on Liberty) to change the boot logo.

Or, take this file and flash in cw. It's a logo replacer file. This one here is the red m logo, but if you want any other one just replace the logo.bin file in the zip for any other logo.bin file.

OK, so I have the d2 sbf zip from tbh. I hope this works. Anyone else used this file to sbf? I guess if it doesn't, I can always sbf the normal way.

Hold on... I'm trying to find the all in 1 installer from P3Droid link. Brb.

Here you go. Just follow instructions on this link: (see my cleaned up version of instructions below)

http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-2-roms/8129-cm7-beta-compliments-jbirdvegas-metickone.html

Gapps link:

http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip

Let me clean the instructions up for you a bit....

- Download the CM7 zip file
- once done, change that CM7 zip file name to update.zip
- delete update.zip if you have it on the root of your SD Card and put that new update.zip on there
- download gapps zip and put on root of SD Card
- go to mounts and storage
- format system
- format data
- format cache
- mount system
- go back
- go to apply update from zip
- select the D2-CM7-test7.zip (the one that was renamed to update.zip)
- install
- go back and select install zip from sd card
- select gapps zip
- install
- reboot

Note: Do not reboot after you flash CM7. Stay in recovery and flash gapps zip right after it is done installing CM7.
