[ROM] [ROM] Droid Concepts Froyo Releases [BETA versions]

no problem woodyman, and everyone, i just hope everyone can get the issues resolved and have the rom running as smooth as i seem to have it..

as for inverted apps, there are several inverted ones in my red theme that work fine, and to my knowledge are all current versions, so check that out if you like, otherwise let me know what you would like to see inverted, i cant promise anything, but ill sure try

So time to chime in. I had been running V6 with Chevy MV 1.1. All good. While i had a 1.5 hour ride yesterday, I dl'd V7 on the road and installed it w/o wiping. Had to redo GAAPs and it worked. Did have some peculiarities with Beautiful Widgets, but minor. Everything else worked fine. I am now wiping and reinstalling because that is the best anyway. I only had 1 option in the DC setup, are there more? I guess after I reinstall I will see.
Good work Woody!

I had been using font changer to revert to Tahoma. Glad to see stock font.

wiping is always best :) , in reality if you make take the proper steps to make and restore backups, then its really not that big of a hassle to reinstall your apps and data....

as for the DC settings, im fairly positive that the only options so far are CPU scaling... but its a start:) woodyman im sure has some nice surprises in store for his exclusive settings, however he is building it from scratch so that takes a while longer, but rest assured it will be worth the wait.dancedroid

Glad to hear it man, and yes only CPU options are currently included, but more is being worked and added in. My settings is new, its not just a renamed CMParts, so it is taking longer than most because of this. Its a big learning process for me and I hope its worth it in the end.. :)

Im currently trying out the p3 kernels and wow..10x better then the petes kernel..i havent even had the "minimal" heating issues. Im about to try out wifi to see if it will stay connected instead of randomly disconnecting.

(Selling Signature space) $5/month :)

Woodyman another great job. Got one weird thing while using a raidzero kernel. I can't change the cpu settings with your app unless setcpu is installed. I tried it after a fresh install, and after all apps restored back to phone. It would only let me adjust it after setcpu was installed. So to test I uninstalled set cpu and did a reboot and the settings went back to max 600 min 250 and I was unable to change them until I reinstalled setcpu. Not a big deal I don't mind running setcpu, just wanted to pick your brain and see if you knew what was happening.

Thanks man, I will check into it, because it should work without set CPU

So just to clarify for anyone who doesn't feel like reading that big long thing I just posted.

The ChainsDD app is functional, and it is the latest one ChainsDD has uploaded to GitHub.
also the binary can be updated in app without issues.
It is odd that I've noticed this issue at all, as I do not use the app directly hardly ever. I simply noticed after flashing the first few builds of your new rom that it wanted to update, each time after I had already successfully updated it via the Market. In all cases, I could not update from the Market after flashing the new build, but I believe that could be due to whatever issue ChainsDD is having. Also in all cases (except this last one, which notified me it was already up-to-date), I was able to update successfully from within the Superuser app's settings.

This really isn't a big deal, was just pointing this out in case it was something needing looking into. Thanks for the clarification.

Note on inverted and otherwise modded apps

I completely understand everyones wanted to 'black out' the market and other apps. All I can say if you have a problem is revert back to the one that came with the ROM. That will fix your problem, but before doing so, uninstall the app or remove from /system/app, then reboot into recovery wipe cache, and davlik cache, then reinstall the ROM and Google apps, and the optional apps if you wish. That will fix it and put you back to normal.

The problem with inverted apps are the many that are out there aren't the newest ones or they may have been added to. So to fix this JayR83 has opted to manually update them for you, so Thanks JayR83 for that. For now I would send him links to the app you want ported to DC and my guess is he'll do it for you.

Porting an app is a pain and time consuming, you have to pull the res folder on both apps and compare the images from the newest stock version to the sometimes old/moded themed version. If theres an image in the stock version that is missing in the themed it will give you problems, or if there are extra images in the themed version you can get problems sometimes too. So basically its time consuming to compare and make sure that all the images in the theme match the stock. Then its a matter of taking the good themed images and putting them over the stock ones. So please be patient with him, its very nice of him to offer. So thanks JayR83 :)
I guess I wasn't paying attention, the market version I was flashing was a bit different than what is on this rom. I see 2.2.11 is what you've got and I was using 2.3.4, http://www.droidforums.net/forum/blacked-out/130003-release-black-market-2-3-4-a.html, which I guess is meant for GB. I also had a 2.2.7 BnB market (2.2.x for froyo?), which gave me the same issue, though I assume it is because of the "Black Market" name again.

I was using Twitter 2.0.0, http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te...ps-you-know-you-want-look-10.html#post1286101, but have uninstalled it to use the Market version, 2.0.2. For now I'm running stock on both of them and hating it, but they work. I look at my phone a lot at night and will go to any length to darken every window. Ironically, I'm not a fan of solid black windows or the fully blacked out apps; I prefer dark grays or other colors. I even have dark wallpapers, dark themes, etc applied on my pcs. It's not just for nighttime browsing, I find it much easier on the eyes during the daytime too. I will likely reapply the brightness hack once we're out of betas here.

Accept this as truth or learn the hard way.

Woodyman, is there any possibility of having xeudoxus' minimum brightness hack built into these options? If I ask too much, s'ok. I can do it myself, but the ability to change it with a simple reboot would be incredible. After applying it manually, I found on a few occasions I'd rather have it a little brighter. If the ambient light is sufficiently dim to lower the brightness to minimum, there is a range of dim lightning where the display is not quite bright enough. For this reason, the stock setting is obviously a well chosen one.

Like you said very odd indeed, I will download the app and see what I get unless when I find it, it is a paid app, lol.. But I don't know of any reason it wouldn't work. The DC ROM is closer to stock than UD so if anything I would see it running better on DC than on UD. Framework edits up to this point have been minimal, options for reboot/reboot recovery and text color changes, and the ADB debugging notification on/off. Those are the only edited parts of framework. So I'm guessing that it is the FONT, I will upload some fonts after I take the time to reply to all the posts I missed out on last night, then I'll get some font packages up, and my guess is that should fix the problem. Because there is no other reason why things would be messed up.. One thing I suggest before flashing a new font is this.

> Uninstall the app
> Flash the font zip in recovery
> Wipe cache, and davlik cache
> Reboot
> Reinstall from market a fresh version, not a backup one..

On another note, my Gemini Calendar is all messed up since I have started using this ROM. I'm not sure if it is this ROM or the app itself, but it didn't look like this on the UD ROM I was on before I switched to DC. I have noticed it after wiping and everything (basically the same as with the Google Search issue). I'm not sure if it is a font issue, framework issue, or something with the app itself. The app has NOT been updated since I flashed DC, so that means that I am using the same version on DC as I was on UD.

Here is a screenshot to show you what I am talking about. I have circled in RED some of the main things that will show the problem. The month should be in the box just below it. The week numbers on the side should be horizontal instead of vertical. In other words, they should all be like the 18, 19, and 21. Finally, the square in the background behind the 11 and 18 should be moved down slightly to be in the grey background. Also, the numbers are pushed up quite a bit. The 4 should be inside the box that is behind the 11 and 18. Also, the blue box at the very bottom behind the 31 should be where the other box is (the one behind the 11 and 18).

Again, I'm not sure if this is a framework issue, or app issue, or what, but this calendar should not look like this. This is almost what it should look like; however, even this month is not completely correct. The numbers are still pushed up slightly. But, it does look more like it should than the picture above.

Whatever the issue, I hope I can figure out what can be done to fix it. I absolutely love this calendar and would hate to not be able to use it anymore.

Again, thanks for everything you do to make this ROM the best available!!!!!!

Kratos

Thanks for looking into this! I was thinking it was the font, but just didn't know since I don't notice it happening on any other apps. The app is Gemini Calendar and is in the market. It is a free app with paid unlockables.

djakrse---it should show in your app drawer as "black market", however, it may be a name related issue if its not there...some roms will recognize it and others may not....and yes the name would be changed in the resources in the values folder in the strings.xml, but you need to decompile it first to see those folders...i can do this for you if you like, just give me a link to download

I really appreciate your offer man, but I can't ask that you do what others have already done. If perhaps the blacked out and inverted apps are only being released for GB roms, I may just request in those threads that they do one for this rom. Since version 2.0.0 of twitter was recently inverted (Market has version 2.0.2), I'm sure it will be updated soon, probably waiting for updated features.

Its really not a big deal as i will use them for my themes anyway ive come across several in the forums that dont work with froyo and wound up downloading the updates from the market and inverting them myself but its your call
