[ROM] [ROM] Droid Concepts Froyo Releases [BETA versions]

I can't remember what it wipes in the install, but wiping all of them is not a bad idea, I do that each time I flash, unless its for a quick test of something. I may add scripts though to wipe everything in the next build just to see if that helps anything, because it very well could be the fact that pieces are mix and matching which is defiantly not a good thing..

thanks for the reminder.. lol.. :) looking forward to the blue, its been awhile since i've had a nice blue theme..

i didnt have any issues with titanium, i restored only a few user apps/data, im using raid zeros low voltage 1100 kernel, and havent experienced any reboots...

i dont know if this helps, but when i wipe before installing a rom, i go to the partitions menu (i use clockwork by the way) and format boot, then in the same menu, i format system....then i go back and wipe the data and cache 2 times...like i said though i dont even know if this matters, woodyman may have even put scripts in the install to format the boot and system, and what im doing is just over kill lol:)

and yes im in missouri, st louis to be exact:)

no problem, just trying to throw ideas out there lol....

blue is getting close, but on the same note, its taking me longer to create because of the several steps i have to take to create the menu icons, and ive also worked up some new status bar icons that are original, and each app icon is going to be replaced and themed....and all the xml edits blah blah lol....its all good though i think you guys will like this theme alot, at least i hope :) ill keep you all posted on progress and i may even release it a little early and continue to update it until its fully done...ive got a really good amount completed as of now, so ill see how it goes from here..some days i get alot done and some days very little, we all know how that goes :)

keep up the good work woody, im looking forward to #08!

the battery life on this rom is like ive never seen before

Thanks man, yeah I've noticed it too looking through the /data partition every now and then.

Its something that most don't realize, but linux/android/windows essentially function the same way with that stuff, you can't have 2 folders with exactly the same name, and I don't people are as familiar with the behind the scenes as they with whats in front.

So i was just trying to share my experience and offer an explanation.

woody- excellent write up , especially the part explaining titanium and how it works in conjunction with the market updating apps and such...ive never thought about that before, and i have noticed that the com.android."app name"etc....with often change slightly when the app is updated like you said. im always looking through my /system and /data im kinda funny like that lol.

anyway thanks for the info ive never put 2 and 2 together in this sense

well it mad perfect sense to me, and i wont forget it, i also think everyone should be well aware of it too, its valuable info, i hope everyone coming across this thread can take that piece of info with them:)

Its been a great ride with this phone, probably one of the best ever experienced because of all the updates, and mostly because it really put Android into the main stream. Hopefully Motorola follows through very soon with their promises of a solution to the boot-loader for the developer communities. We all know its possible, the xoom has it and the nexus device(s), google even put it on the Cr-48 that 'dev' switch. so hopefully Motorola can deliver a phone like this because I prefer Motorola over others.

Thanks for the support man and I'm glad you enjoy it, its fun to make but it takes a heck of a lot of work.. lol keep the feedback coming.. :)

I too am surprised at how far my OG Droid has made it! I'm a little sadden as well to know that the chances of having a fully unlocked/unencrypted bootloader combined with Vanilla Android for Verizon again are basically non-existent.

I would hope that flashing wouldn't have any effect on the hardware, but who knows... LOL

I'm happy to give my feedback and support! This ROM rocks, even with this ONE very small issue. And i mean this is the only issue I have with build 7 and it really isn't that big because it only happens when charging and for a short while after a charge. Since I have been constantly getting 18-22 hours ber charge with moderate to heavy use, I can't complain, only report!

Thank you for everything!

Kratos

as i wrote that I was wondering how many people would actually read it.. lol

I'll make a thread about things to consider/read about android sometime soon, and will defiantly include that

I want to offer another opinion on the message issue. I'm curious how much space you have available on /data, kratos?

I can't say I've had your particular issue, but for instance, I remember after installing my first rom, I still had relatively few apps installed. Everything ran like a dream that was before I had overclocked. I was quickly installing apps, as android and apps were new to me on my phone. I quickly learned there was a threshold, however, where my phone started to slow down. The threshold changed after I overclocked, and I could install more apps. After I changed to ADW, it changed again and if I had too little free space on /data, I'd get redraws. Locking ADW in memory cured redraws, but introduces spontaneous reboots when there's just no memory left.

My lack of understanding of android may be showing when I correlate /data and ram, but my experience tells me not to rely too much on locking apps into memory. Be frugal in choosing how many apps you install. If you can't part with too many of them, look for other solutions. For this reason, I'm interested in compcache, compressing the running memory. Installing apps to SD helps, but I've always meant to look into the ext2/ext3 partitioning method of moving apps to sd. Thus far, I've sort of restrained myself to maintaining at least 60mb of free space on /data, but my phone runs best around 75mb free with no apps locked into memory, leaving the most space possible to allow android to manage the space.

All my apps run like butter, scrolling remains smooth in all apps, and no redraws. I think many people expect too much of their D1 phones. Like woody said, they were the sh_t when they came out, but we are relying on a lot of wizardry to allow then to keep up with the newer phones. Apps keep updating to support the latest android os, taking up more space as they do. We're going to incur more issues, we just have to adapt.

I hope this doesn't sound like a rant, it's not. I honestly believe personal behavior can account for a lot of computer issues. Part of my perspective comes from the fact I was practically the sole support for an entire community college for years. If I'm off base, ignore me, I'm not talking to you, just humor the idea subjectively. :)

I hate reading my own posts sometimes. The point is, try freeing up space if you can. If that's not the issue, it's hard to pin it down to software failure if very few others are experiencing it. What marked your case special could be a conflict of software, hardware, or a mix if things.

Yeah I know how you feel, I don't like my stuff either.. lol.. But that is also a great point, the Droid simply can't handle every app from the market being installed, it's sad but true, but the only good this is the majority of us original Droid owners are getting upgrades soon.. :)

like you said if the problem your having isn't the same problem others are having with anything, then 9 times out of 10 its not the ROM, it's the configuration or hardware, or a combination of both. There are always issues with things, so I do not discredit and I'm not saying people are lying, I believe all the issues that have been reported about messaging and titanium. But on the development side not having had the same issues Its hard to know what to look at and try to fix, which is why I ask for the logcat, the logcat found the issues with the CPU scaling, without having that I would have no idea what still needed fixed. So if you do have an issue any issue try to get the logcat, and either send it to me or post it here. Thats the best form of debugging for me.. lol :)

What sucks is that I'm not having the titanium issues on every app, just some. I've never had this issue with titanium and I've used it quite a bit with many roms. I may wait for build 8 and see if it works then and if not, possibly do a clean install and manually install my apps, haven't done that in awhile.

Jay -- I knew you were in MO from the screenshot, just making sure lol. I'm in MO too, about 4 hours from St. Louis

Music logcat would be easy, but the messaging one you would have to be messaging to get a logcat of it no?

I really wish I knew and could fix the titanium issues, on another note Build 08 is on its way.. :)

as for the logcat, yes music is a lot easier. like you said you would have to be connected, and have the error happen while connected, so that takes a little more time.. lol

Problem with lastest build 8

Build 08 LIVE!!!

This is the first time that I am going to try your ROM. I am coming from PE GB ROM. I downloaded build 8 from ROM Manager but its been stuck in the "MOTO" logo for the past 20 minutes is that normal? I wipe Calviks cache and wipe data... any ideas?

it may have been a bad download, I am checking it now, just started my download from Rom Manager with Google apps.

either that or maybe Rom Manager didn't fully wipe everything before it installed.

either way, it should have loaded up fine.. I'll let you know how it goes for me
