[ROM] [ROM] Droid Concepts Froyo Releases [BETA versions]

I will be posting alternative fonts, was just waiting to do so, but i'll get some up tonight hopefully, any requests for fonts that you want??

And I actually completely forget about my themed settings app, I will update that in the next build.. :)

I just updated to beta 4 from SD7 without wiping and have had zero issues other than having to clear data on Gmail before it would load.

I'm running ChevyNo1's latest LV 1.0 GHz kernel and am running smooth as butter. The stock kernel felt a little non-responsive at times. Usually it seemed to ignore my tapping on the soft back button. It may just be that I've been running Chevy's 1ghz for so long and I'm used to the immediate feedback.

My only opinions so far...
I don't like comic sans. I tried to go back to stock -- the only font update I had on my SD but it wouldn't install. I'll have to replace it soon.

I miss the HTC Sense themed settings replacement I installed. I love your default theming for the statusbar and notification but the stock settings menu needs color for me.

Weatherbug and other Google maps using apps no longer fc on me. That was my only issue with SD7, so I'm loving this!

Thanks Woodyman!

Several times now, rebooting to recovery has simply rebooted, including the first time. Meaning, I had not yet changed the kernel or applied any other updates. I also liked the UI on the reboot options for SD7. :)

Ok I need confirmation either way on this one from a few people, so please let me know if this works for you or not...

on build 2 everything worked and I had personally been able to test it, and I havn't made any changes to that code since then, so it should be working, however, I can't test this myself anymore.......

My phone fell and apparently landed just right on the power button, so now that no longer works for me.. How this happened I have no idea, I mean I'm sure most of you know by now this phone is pretty rock solid for the most part, I've dropped it and thrown it and never an issue, but somehow my power button is dead, it goes down but its not receiving the signal input, so its not the button cause I've tried to fix it.. lol

so please let me know..

Rom is working great no problems so far, and everything is working like its supposed to. I would like to get battery % in status bar. Is this coming in with the app you are talking about at the end of post #1? Using a widget uses up valuable real estate.

Battery will be included eventually, but no time frame on when it will be included or anything like that, I can't start on the app until after I finish up with the semester, so I will not be touching it until the at least the 30th, my last final is the 29th, and I will probably be to burned out from everything to work on it that day. So currently the app is on hold until I finish up the semester, last week of class this week, then next week is all finals..

The only thing I don't really like is that the dial screen doesn't have an end call button- seems like my phone takes forever to end a call. Great ROM by the way!

Yeah I have no idea what happened with that dial screen, I am using the AOSP froyo branch of the phone and contacts app, no mods other than changing images, so no code swaps or anything else, but yet build 03 gave the regular phone dialer and for some reason build 04 gave the old cupcake/donut dialer.. I wish I knew why..

more than likely one more build this weekend and that will be taken care of because I will be switching over to the CyTown/CM phone/contacts app. But it may not be included until build 06, so build 05 will be most likely using the same phone app as build 03, but who knows it just depends on how much time I can devote to the switch and mods and what not over the next few days.

I will check out the boot animation request as well, I will most likely not include a boot sound, but if people want to send me some sounds or bootanimations they want I would be more than happy to keep a running list of them for everyone to enjoy..

also in case you haven't noticed all D/L's are now direct for Droid Concepts, no more waiting at 4shared or anything like that, thanks to my generous host.. :)

To be honest, I like the default font. I think it's cool to be able to change it, but I just installed Type Fresh to get it back. I learned the reason my font update.zip wouldn't install was because it was an older, likely cupcake, format which doesn't work well with Froyo. There's a thread at XDA in which they are updating tons of fonts to use the newer update.zip format so either way I can get the font I want when I want it.

This happened for me maybe 1 in 3 times, though never consecutively, in close to 20 reboots into recovery. It could've been just me. Like I said, I never wiped, plus I'm using RZRecovery 2.0.3 rather than SPR or CWM.

I am now back to SD7 as I got stuck at the boot logo after trying to flash several inverted apps at the same time. After fighting with RZRecovery for a couple of hours, I finally had enough. I made backups (with RZR) before every flash but none of them would restore. They kept getting stuck at the point where it was supposed to wipe /system. I read on the changelog that changed with 2.0.3 where it just cleared/deleted the contents of /system rather than formatting; perhaps that was an issue. I manually wiped /system manually in recovery and the recovery succeeded after that. Rather than spending any more time on getting my phone back to the point I wanted it, I just went back to my update before installing this rom. I'll definitely put build 05 on here when you release it though!

Is that what happened?!? I had never seen that one and was wondering.

I have no request for custom animations as I make my own, but I think everyone should replace the /system/bin/bootanimation due to the superior performance and accuracy. Even if one does not need sound in their animation, the faster playback is nice. For instance, the reason the D1 can't handle the original R2D2 animation is the playback is 24fps and the images are larger resolution. With the bootanimation binary from that phone, even that animation will play very nicely on the D1!

Regarding RZRecovery, I've had lots of success with it before, but I haven't had to restore at least since I've installed 2.0.3. I have often rebooted into recovery, but not often with this build of RZR, so I can't say whether it had that behavior before I installed this rom. I don't know if that could somehow affect the behavior in combination with this rom?

Also, when it rebooted, it's also important to note that it skipped the boot logo and even the full shutdown process (I believe.) Normally, the phone vibrates when it is shutting down, no? Each time it did this, the phone did not vibrate and skipped the boot logo. I confirmed the reboot into recovery in the UI and then soon the screen suddenly turned off with my Daft Punk boot animation starting immediately after, no blogo. Also. the boot animation would play slowly with the music finishing halfway through. Weird.

anybody having trouble with wifi or did I break something fixing? wifi shows error when turned on with most kernels only one that doen't is a chevy 1.25 GB kernel it allows wifi to toggle on but will not make connection.

I forgot to add this as one of the reasons I went back to SD7. I couldn't get wifi to work, though I forgot to test before I flashed Chevy's kernel. There's a lot of talk about this issue in his forum, including a thread that started with SS 5.0. Not everyone experiences it though. I tried 3 of his different kernels, including his latest, the LGB one from March, and the last one I used on SD7 (probably the 2nd froyo kernels he released back around October-ish.) None of them allowed wifi to work.

no it is going through the full process, I just removed the shutdown vibrate, I didn't like it and enjoyed it better without vibrating.. you can check on github in the android_frameworks_base and android_frameworks_policies_base, to look at the reboot/reboot recovery code, it goes through the process, vibrate has just been taken out.. :)

like I have said, only stock kernel is currently supported, sorry... lol..

Build 05 is coming shortly with plenty of changes/enhancements to the hard end of the coding, moved almost everything out of super-impose, also known as overlay, so it is actually built into the app and not overlayed and compiled, should make those apps run a little smoother, and I have plenty of other enhancements planned, and on that note, I added a plans text file on git hub, HERE, and if you guys make requests and we decide to to them they will be added there, with your name, and once its in the ROM, your name will appear in the Changelog for suggesting the feature/request, so please keep them coming..

The link doesn't work; I think you got an http:// in front of your https:// if you know what I mean. Thanks for the credits, it makes me feel like I accomplished something. :D

Now I really can't wait to install this.

I used https to access the site, just deleted the http at beginning. I figured you pasted the URL with https and either your tapa app or the website added the http.

I know, crazy, huh? I've been trying to spread the word. It almost feels like a secret, because nobody cares unless they are trying to enable sound. The fact is, it makes all animations play better. It speeds up the boot process for people who have larger boot animations, too.
