[ROM]One small step for man one giant leap for --- Liberty 1.5 2/2/2011

Hello everyone first off I would like to thank everyone for all the advice and guidance I have received so far. This my first post but I've been researching this site and find that it and everyone on here is awesome! Im currently on liberty 1.0 and was wondering if I could install 1.5 without a PC. Is there anyway to get the zip on my SD without PC? Also could someone explain what a torrent and FTP is please. Thanks. (P.S. THIS ROM IS THE SHIZNIT!)

You can download without a PC using the droid forums app or just your browser, navigate to the this thread and download. All downloaded files will be saved on your SD card in the "download" folder.

FTP = File Transfer Protocol
Torrent = peer to peer sharing protocol

Suffice it to say that FTP and torrent are alternate download methods, that all.

These can get complicated but put simply...

A torrent is a file that tells an application (designed to be used with torrents, such as azureus/uttlorrent) where to download parts of the file from.

An FTP is essentially just a file server through the web.

To download 1.5 without a PC, try simply DLing the file from your phone using an FTP link, and use the file explorer on your phone to move it to the root of your sdcard.

Is there any way to get the lockscreen timeout option back? I like setting up the lockscreen in case my phone gets misplaced, but if I'm checking it frequently, I don't like having to input the pin or draw the pattern every time.

I remember it was seen as a "bug" by some, but I think it was a pretty sweet feature..

so is there no way to do this? i believe it is the only missing option in an otherwise AMAZING rom.

When browsing internet pages, when I know there is a video there, there isnt one, or there is a little blue box with a "?" on it...

Also get playback errors alot with slacker...

I'm guessing your kernel isn't up to date... had you done the 2.3.340 update prior to installing liberty?

Check your kernel version in about phone... if it's not 2.6.32.9-g55626e1, then you should update...

Edit: Fastest way to update, if you don't have the updated kernel/baseband/bootloader, is this:

So I got liberty all installed and set up the way I like it. All I have to say is it kicks butt. Thank you.

To download zip files you'll need something like Astro file manager installed. Otherwise I think you'll get an error like it doesn't know how to handle the file. Astro will save the file on your sd card in the download directory. You'll be able to install from that directory when you reboot into recovery.

No PC needed. Heck, your phone is your PC.

Agreed. After reading a bit as to the features on 1.5, I finally found my first ROM. Very happy. well done guys & thank you! :)

overclock

I think some had this issue with 1.0, but I didn't until 1.5.
I can't get my jrummy overclock profile and settings to stick after reboot. They always revert to 1000, 800, 600, 300. I have every box that says "start at boot" or whatever checked. Right now I am just having to go in and click apply presets and all is good. In the liberty toolbox I have the overclock box unchecked so I can use the app and the sliding scales.
Thank you in advance. I am sure I am just missing something simple or a box somewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to upgrade from Liberty 1.0 to Liberty 1.5. The wiping is always a PITA, but with Titanium, I restored apps and setting quickly and painlessly. I'm beginning to think that wiping data maybe *isn't* the equivalent of having a root canal done without Novocain. :)
