I Dl'd and installed today. I'll cut to the point. I noticed several issues... I'm going to do a wipe and reinstall. I originally dl'd @ 634k on a land line and copied to SD. Will try to DL again but this time I'll just push the .zip using adb rather than the usual copy and paste.
1. My mic in Handcent doesn't work. My Keyboard doesn't have the mic button.
2. I'm sure the servers are getting hammered, so I wont push too much on this issue, the toolbox doesnt download complete files. I've been unable to download AOSP/FROYO keyboard or the linear theme.
3. When I first booted up I started having an issue where if the power button was pushed to pull the x out of sleep state it would only show a black screen... No lock screen, even calling the phone, I had no answer options...Just a black screen. A battery pull and a minute wait before starting phone seems to have fixed this one.
4. I couldn't install angry birds. I got an installation unsuccessful error the first time, error -18 the second time, unable to download the third time. I finally got it into the phone with an .apk back up I had of angry birds. My kids will make me the angry bird when were on long drives if they cant play angry birds.
5. No City ID. Its not for me, but the 3 other X phones I work on wont commit to another ROM until I can guarantee this bloatware will work. Again its not me, but these guys pay for it.
6. When logged into a wireless network, if I move out of range the phone wont jump into 3g or 1x for that matter. It just gives me network connection errors. Speaking of 3g the phone seems to be dropping 3g alot. Sitting next to an unmodded D2 I'm in 1x the D2 is in 3g. Sitting next to a rooted DX stock ROM, rooted DX in 3g, my ROM'd X in 1x.
7. It was kinda sluggish at first, but overclocking to 1.25 really, really brought the phone to life. I was contemplating going back to rooted stock until this thing took off.
I like the ROM so far, but being unable to DL anything from the Toolbox really has limited what I've been able to try out so far.
1) I could have SWORE that they included google search, and voice search with the ROM. but looking, I don't see it.
Make sure you have both "Google Search" and "Voice Search" (by google) installed from the market.. these should work fine.
2) Servers should start settling down anytime now.. still having issues?
3) There are a metric ton of scripts and things running the first couple times you reboot your phone to get everything set up. My guess.. is that you were impatient on first boot. I may be wrong..
4)Haven't had any problems with it.. again, once the phone has done it's thing up on first boot. I'm guessing you tried this within the first hour or so.. and after multiple reboots hoping that the reboots would clear up whatever was slowing it down .. only to have everything have to start over when it booted back up... reliving the cycle.
Once things on the phone settle down, and market does it's thing, and all of that, it should install fine. Pretty sure that there would have been rampages loud and clear if AngryBirds had an issue on this ROM...
5) Have to pass on this one.. have you tried it? I also assume you have checked for alternatives... why they want it, I dunno.. but I'm sorry for them. (If they're just looking for a place to put their 2$/month, they should run the ROM, and just donate to the devs instead of paying for that piece of crap... :S
6) Has this cleared up? I've not had this problem.. walking the dog, I moved out of range of wireless... and it didn't skip a beat.
Coming back in took some time.. but not an issue for me..
7) Overclocking or not, given time, it's still much more responsive than stock.
Regarding sluggish, I believe there are a couple tweaks in place that will make the phone feel much faster, but after about 40-60 hours it could start to feel sluggish... reboot every couple days if this happens to you .... :S
