[ROM] The Eagle Has Landed!!!! - Liberty 1.0 1/11/11

7. It should definitely be fast. The only other ROM that I've seen as fast as Liberty is RubiX Focused. I'm glad that letting it do it's scripts and whatnot has given you a marked increase in speed. There is still more that you can do. I've talked to jrummy about some sysctl tweaks to implement as well as a couple other things and I believe it will be included in the next toolbox udpate.

I folllowed a couple threads on sysctl tweaks and I'm just wondering would it be better a route vs over clocking? I did notice that overclocking the X's I've worked with only has a marginal result. On the surface the overclocking does seem faster but once you get into running multiple apps the performance gain seemed marginal at best. I've run into several X's not liking anything over 1.25. One X froze at 1.3 and another ran sluggish at 1.35. This was using Droid X Overclock software by Jrummy...

Better route? Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. It doesn't have to be a seperate route. You can integrate sysctl tweaks along with overclocking/undervolting. I don't overclock. My phone won't allow me to go over 1.15 GHz and it doesn't perform significantly better enough to warrant doing that. Instead, I run at stock speeds with very low voltages. This, combined with the sysctl tweaks gives me great performance as well as ridiculous battery life. To really maximize things, undervolt, utilize sysctl.conf, and make the CFS kernel behave like a BFS. Now you'll have insane battery life and superb memory management.

LOL well after reading I deleted re downloaded Liberty and all functions are there and working. I just need to re download my apps and figure out my contacts when I get home. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction even though I could have scanned the 50 or so pages. Still gotta give it a few days to see if I like it as it is faster and cool , will just have to get used to it. My first rom switch and all.

See I'll be traveling alot more soon. Lately it's been 5-6 times a year for at least 6-8 days at a time. My boss was talking about twice that amount this year. So I'd definately look into longer battery life over a faster phone that dies in a couple of hours. I've learned how to live from one charge to another and it definately sucks when one flight gets delayed for whatever reason only to have to skip the next charge during the layover. If you could point me in the right direction as far as sysctl tweaking I'm sure I'll can figure it out on my own. I just need some reading material to get me started.

BTW the voice search from the market worked, but I did need to reboot for Handcent to take it.

I have been asking around and no one seems to have an answer.... how can I set my email account up.... when I hit the email app and try to sign in it says invalid email or password. And when I go to settings/accounts and select corporate to make an account it signs in my information but when I get to the next step it keeps saying failed to connect to incoming server... any ideas what to do? .... I had to download the yahoo mail app in the mean time but I really don't want to use that...Droid X

My girlfriend had this problem too so I did some playing around to figure out how to make it work.

Go to manual setup > IMAP account and change to these settings....

Imap server - imap.mail.yahoo.com

SMTP Server- smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

Enjoy yahoo mail in your email app :)

I just tested this on mine to verify. It does work. You put the imap information in first, then hit next and let it verify. Then you put the smtp information in and hit next. Voila.

Are you sure you're following my instructions fully? You type in your yahoo account name and password, then hit manual setup, then choose IMAP, then the only lines you adjust are the yahoo.mail lines... first one you'll see is for imap, next one is smtp...

I changed absolutely nothing else. I think I recall seeing the port number listed as 143? Not 100% sure but I didn't touch it.

Oh! I think I know. You are connected to wifi aren't you? It won't work over wifi because it's a mobile server. Disconnect from wifi.
