7. It should definitely be fast. The only other ROM that I've seen as fast as Liberty is RubiX Focused. I'm glad that letting it do it's scripts and whatnot has given you a marked increase in speed. There is still more that you can do. I've talked to jrummy about some sysctl tweaks to implement as well as a couple other things and I believe it will be included in the next toolbox udpate.
I folllowed a couple threads on sysctl tweaks and I'm just wondering would it be better a route vs over clocking? I did notice that overclocking the X's I've worked with only has a marginal result. On the surface the overclocking does seem faster but once you get into running multiple apps the performance gain seemed marginal at best. I've run into several X's not liking anything over 1.25. One X froze at 1.3 and another ran sluggish at 1.35. This was using Droid X Overclock software by Jrummy...
Better route? Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. It doesn't have to be a seperate route. You can integrate sysctl tweaks along with overclocking/undervolting. I don't overclock. My phone won't allow me to go over 1.15 GHz and it doesn't perform significantly better enough to warrant doing that. Instead, I run at stock speeds with very low voltages. This, combined with the sysctl tweaks gives me great performance as well as ridiculous battery life. To really maximize things, undervolt, utilize sysctl.conf, and make the CFS kernel behave like a BFS. Now you'll have insane battery life and superb memory management.
