MotoCache's root doesn't care what OS version you are on...No need to update.

That's why it says regardless of OS version...

Edit: The update.zip you are flashing isn't a ROM. It is only the things necessary to make the stock ROM you are on, rooted.

If you want to flash an ROM, you just need to find a stock one. Peter has one, MetiCkOne has one and Gimp Project has one.

Deodexed is theme ready.
Odexed is stock signed files, so no theming.

Following your 'Flashing a ROM on a Droid 1 - Best Practices' I used the odexed rom from Peter and it flashed easily from SPRecovery.

That's one heck of a bunch of errors. I truly wish I had the answers. I did a quick google search on the last one or two and found some other posts, but still no answers. I guess you may have to do the same, but look longer than I did, I only looked for about ten minutes this morn.

One question (from what I read), what version of RSD Lite are you using? Also, make sure your battery is fully charged.

Probably going to be an issue with the VM.
Plus Windows 7 hates RSDLite anyways. You are double trouble with that.

Try 4.9 -- I've heard it tends to work better with Win 7.

Also, if you can't get it to work with that, can you boot a Linux live CD?

Help Please

So I've flashed my ROM several times using the steps from Motocache without any issues. I got the latest ROM (Stock FRG83G) from GimpedMOD here, loaded it into my root directory and launched SPR Recovery like normal. The install was successful.

Then I went to reboot. The phone cycled power. I got the Moto logo then it launched into a BIOS type booting sequence with an EPA logo. It said it was successfully rooted (I dont ever remember this happening) launched some kind of new droid logo, sat there for a bit then started rebooting to the EPA thing over and over.

Whats going on and how do I fix this? Thanks for your help!

That boot animation is normal for gimp.

When it cycles like that its not. Did you make a post about it in his forum?

You have the appropriate moto drivers?

Do you have motoconnect installed? If so it should be disabled.
