[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Nothing, i pulled it and went back into Recovery, i hit allow update.zip Installation and then install /sdcard/update.zip(deprecated)

i dont get what im doing wrong the update file is in the Root of my SD card.

i cant seem to figure this out ive been trying since last night and nothing maybe you guys could help, i read and re read the detailed steps but can seem to get it to root. i am running frg22d.

1. downloaded everything needed, 32 bit moto drivers, RSD lite, the complete root file,SPRecovery SBF for the Droid 1.
2. i have renamed the Complete root file to "update.zip" and even tried just "update"

i can get into the SPRecovery but when i apply the update i get this.

(complete text whats on the error)
--Install from SD card...
Finding update package
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1(or /dev/block/mmcblk0
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:Update.zip
Installation Aborted

:(
Stick a different SD card in -- preferably one you can let the phone format and see if that fixes it. This is usually a sign that there's an issue with your card.

Im stuck on Step #3 under detailed procedure, I tryed to rename it, but my cpmputer will not let me, there is "update" already there 46,288 KB file. Now what?

can u root using this process and make a backup of your current phone using rm and also use rm to flash roms and flash backups i really want to root but ive used rm to flash roms b4 and im without a comp ALOT so it would be much easier for me

I have two questions

1. The PC system I will be using has XP pro on it , but the USB interface is 1.1 vice 2.0, will this have an effect when using RSD Lite?

2. What is the approximate amount of time between selecting "start" on RSD Lite and the reboot of the driod. Also what is the approximate of this after the droid reboots to "PASS" on RSD Lite?

The 2.0 quit on my computer before I was able to do this on my wifes phone. I did it on my own phone when it worked and it worked like a charm. When I tried to do it on my wifes, I tried quite a few times with 1.1 and the phone didn't respond and when it finally did , it corrupted the bootloader code. VZW store was able to fix it easy, but I definately wouldn't recomend trying this without 2.0.

Are you naming it before or after you moved it to the SD card? Have you considered deleting the existing update file on the SD card?

Okay, trying to decipher that into English... Okay, bad English translated... One sticking point. RM = ROM Manager? Yes, once you have SPRecovery on you can risk flashing Clockwork on and use ROM Manager, but ROM Manager does not play well with FroYo.

A simpler method would be to use Astro to delete any old ROM update.zip kicking around and then rename any ROM you downloaded to update and install through SPRecovery. Or you could just flash and run ClockworkMod Recovery/ROM Manager normally and hope for the best.

I've downloaded everything, made a list of all my apps, installed RSDLite, I've read the instructions ten times. I'm all ready ... except for one question ...

At what point in the instructions do I get a chance to run Titanium Backup? That's what has me confused. I need to have root access to run Titanium, but in getting root access I will wipe the things that I need to back up in the first place ...

Right? Help?

This is my question too. If I should ever have to return my phone, how do I get it back to stock without a backup?

I'm not talking about getting back to stock. I can assure you the instructions for doing that are earlier in this thread.

What I want to know is when to backup my apps, so that I can restore them AFTER I have root.

And I can't restore apps if I haven't backed them up.

And so I ask at what point I should run Titanium?
