Rooted d1 vs stock d2

Its a corporate store. I recently upgraded to unlimited family plan and was lookng for a cheapish phone for youngest son . I inquired about advertising saying if you purchase a d2 get one free. But I don't have annly numbers available for upgrades. Hence the dummy #........should I not do this now. Kind of worried now

Here is where I was told that since I had no lines up for upgrade he could create a dummy # ....,.I dunno does it sound wrong?

My advice to you is ask questions, many questions, and make darn sure you don't have a line in contract for the next 2 years and make darn sure you won't be paying for a line with no phone on it. You might even want to speak to the rep's manager, get something in writing because this is not an option 99.9% of the time someone wants a BOGO phone offer.

You know what. I'm just gonna do the upgrade for my son and forget about the BOGO. Offer.... don't need the stress.. ill just make sure my son don't root ...,..,I may just buy one outright soon then just swap it then. No biggie.

I can't get over the fact that you don't want him to root because his phone will be better.

I'm not trying to judge you or start an argument, but it's really immature.

I find it really greedy and immature, and simply weird, because as a father myself, I want my son to have better than I do. But, you've admitted it's immature, and I just don't have anything else to say.

The beauty of being a parent is that you can enforce arbitrary rules. He doesn't pay for the phone or the plan, nor will he pay for the replacement so I say good for you. Daddy deserves the better phone. I will say though that if you ever get a d2 then you should both root and flash roms and such, it would be a fun father son bonding experience.

What does it really matter? I'm a grown man but my mom bought me my phone as a birthday gift and she pays my phone bill and if she found out the extent to which I've hacked it she would likely string me up by my thumbs. Its his perogative.
