Rooting the Droid X?

Over the past 5 or so years, I've gone from the Palm to WM to Droid 1, now Da X... And on every step of each phone, this type of paranoid thread pops up... LOL, just funny to me... I think it'll, *rootage/custom ROMage* ,happen more sooner than later, just as on every other smart phone I've had...:):)

I couldn't agree more. I personally think the eFuse is incredibly taken out of context and we could see a root released within the next month.

My question though is what program is required to make an sbf file to put on the phone. I'm not going to do anything stupid, just curious cause I really want to start studying it. PHP is getting boring. :P

You'll need to make a new sbf that uses the droid x kernel.
Seeing Koush post in the Droid X hacks forum makes me feel better about the possibilities of a cracked bootloader :D. I dont think that guarantees it to happen, but the right people are definitely looking into it dancedroid

What we also need to do as the Android community is make sure the right people have access to a Droid X so they can work on cracking the bootloader. I know Birdmann in about a day recieved enough donations to purchase a Droid X so that is a plus, Pete won the AllDroid contest so that is a plus as well. I asked Cyanogen and Team Unrevoked if they have someone with access to a Droid X, if not it doesn't take long if those interested pitch in a few bucks(anything helps) to get these guys a device.

It's not about rooting. It's not about custom ROMs. It's about ownership and freedom. This is what this whole thing is about. Whether or not you CHOOSE to doesn't mean you should be denied the ability to.

+1

although i'm glad Moto put out verification about the eFuse cause there seemed to be MANY misconceptions...

I have to wait till MONDAY for my droid X :icon_evil:

I think there is a donation going on in xda for Koush to get DX.

edit: here's the link to the thread.
Here is our chance to get the Droid X rooted/unlocked!!! - xda-developers

not to question you or the OP of that thread, but that seems WAY less than secure. who's to say that isn't some random guy's paypal account?

The email address has been verified by the forum admin and Koush is aware of the thread and accepting the donations.

The thread however was closed by the admin so it won't create any problems although all the information is still available to read.

I'm hopeful that the X will get a lot of attention from a few wonderful devs. It would be hard to get used to if they don't after having the Droid since launch. Maybe I've just been spoiled? Although I love Motorola's phones, buying an HTC phone has it's advantages because you know that Cyanogen and the guys over at XDA will support it. We need an XDA type group for Motorola phones. With the Droid, Droid X, Droid 2, and possibly the Droid Pro, there are and will be plenty of awesome Motorola phones to support. If the X comes with a locked bootloader but is still rooted, I will still be happy with wifi tethering and overclocking.

+1... I'm fine with tethering and OCing dancedroid
