SBF to root and to unroot

Stuck at "M" screen everytime I change anything

I have rooted and unrooted several times to try out each official and each ROM that has interested me since I purchased my DROID. Lately I have been getting stuck at the "M" screen everytime I change anything whether it be a new ROM (Sapphire 1.0.0 currently) the last time all i did was use ROM Manager to change themes of Sapphire 1.0.0 and will not boot past "M" screen. I can still get to flash and still get to Clockwork. Reflashed to stock 2.0.1 and after boot and all through activation get force close popups for gapps and for android system over and over. After fighting thriugh activation with force closes i get a blank black screen with signal full battery normal and 3g but cannot get anywhere... when i reflash to 2.0.1 it goes back to normal after resetting everything but sooner or later happens again. only has been happening since trying to revert to 2.0.1 with update.zip from manual 2.2 update. Sorry if this makes your eyes bleed!!!

Ditch ROM Manager; it seems a recent update is not playing nicely with your phone, and many people have reported many issues with it. Use the SPRecovery SBF and see if that clears up issues with your phone.

is there a way to format my sdcard and have it load the same files it came with when i originally received my DROID? Or was it totally empty out of the box. I feel like residual files left over from rooting and unrooting so many times could be the culprit as well...

The SD card should have nothing to do with the OS. It's possible your flash memory is getting weak from all the ROM-jumping, but that shouldn't be the case since the memory Motorola put in should have been of the highest quality. I think your problem is ROM Manager.

Should, shouldn't, etc. If you think the SD card is causing the issue, yank the important stuff you don't want to lose off it and format it. If people are putting aftermarket SD cards in without any issue then you should be able to do that.

ok reflashing everything to root from scratch now. i only thought the sdcard might be an issue bc i noticed a lot of extra files loaded from roms such as the froyo google apps etc and android secure and so forth and the gapps is one of the force close errors i get

flashed 2.0.1 sbf loaded no prob then when flashing sprecovery will not load past M screen and still says please manually power up device... gonna push ESE81 update with root to sdcard and update through recovery, sprecovery should have still been pushed to my system

Good luck. Let us know if there are any problems.

panic not an option. have bricked and unbricked several times lol. worst case scenario say it was stolen and pay 95 buck for replacement through insurance lol

TaDa and now we have activation of rooted 2.1... now for the long process of downloading and pushing roms since rom manager is a douche! Whats the terminal commands for installing busybox again? i been using the busybox app in market to install so forgot the manual commands

There's a busybox installer on the market. Allows you to keep your busybox current.

EDIT: I misread what you said.

Titanium Backup allows you to install it in the options -- "Problems" or something like that.

That is now my new fav thread ever. Amazing it still turned on and tried to serve its purpose. These things are alive!!!!
