SBF to root and to unroot

Yes after you have root access you can flash a different ROM. Rom manager is a great app and woth the couple of dollars it cost. You can download roms and some custom kernels right from that app. You are almost there!!

downloading the update. right now... will be done shortly

also i have RSD lite still open. if i try and close it it says that it is still busy and that it may damage the device. i am not connected to it right now. is it safe to close?

alright im installing the update.zip. thanks for the help warrior

and also when i do the wipedata/factory reset everything will still be there? even teh nandroid backup?

Anything on your sd card will be there including the nandroid backup. When your phone reboots it will be just like it was out of the box so you will have to log back into your account and re-activate the phone. Did you back up all your apps with something like astro?

The apps should have been backed up before the wipe but your paid apps will still be there. All you will have to do is go to the market, then downloads and reinstall them. To activate all you have to do is follow the instructions on the screen and re-log back into your google account.

i haven't done the wipe yet. i waited for your VERY helpful response. plus i had to make a phone call so i have not done the factory/data wipe yet. and so yes all apps were backed up with astro a few seconds ago and i have not yet done step 4 with the factory and data wipe.

You will be flashing roms before you know it. Once it tells you its complete just press the top power button once and that will bring you back to the main menu where you can hit reboot.

Do you have the superuser ninja in your app drawer? Your contacts will automatically sync back on from your gmail account. Hit settings>accounts and sync and make sure the four boxes are checked off under your gmail account. To get your apps back just go to the market and download astro. For your paid apps hit the soft menu button while you are in the market and hit downloads. You will see your paid apps there and they will say purchased next to them. Click on them one at a time and reinstall them. You can open up astro, click on the menu button and go to tools. Go to backups and it should bring up a list of all the apps you backed up. You can reinstall all of them that way
