Seidio 2600mAh extended battery

My Multi-Function Battery Charger & 2800 battery just got delivered at home while I'm here at work, so I'll be testing them this weekend. I intend to leave the extended battery in the multi-function charger overnight for about 12-14 hours initially before trying it on my never-rooted Droid over the weekend. Now that it's very sunny here, I find that I've had to keep auto-brightness on more often which definitely drains the stock battery faster than my past typical minimum brightness usage. I guess I finally have a good excuse to install Battery Left... :)

so far I'm on my first full nights charge on my new charger, which came the day after I ordered it. impressed.

when I took the batt off and put it in my phone it read 4187mv... now its still on 4187mv with a good amout of usage. watched about an hour of nflnetwork on the nflmobile app, which is the sweetest thing ever! but not seeing any voltage drop is blowing me away.

my screen on time so far says one hour and 12mins and that's only showing up as 59% of my usage.

its early, but so far its looking good for the extended battery charged on their muilt use charger. plus it just seems handy to have around.

edit* update its at 4021mv now that I just looked again, even thou I have instant update checked...

anyways, still much much better than before. or seems to be so far

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the seidio battery cover all the way on with the 2800 battery. The cover goes on easily without the battery in. Best I can do now is slide the cover half way up...

i think i killed mine :( had phone running slacker and gps and bluetooth at same time for several hours. phone was plugged in the whole time. i looked up and the meter was red like battery was dead. when i opened batteryleft it showed overheated under battery health. after it cooled down heath went back to good.... but it dosent last nearly as long now.

Is the egg before the chicken.... maybe......

If you had a bad cell that was slightly shorted with a high resistance short.. that will drain you battery quick, kill shelf life and cause undue heat when using and charging at the same time.

I normally leave mine on the charger almost constantly when in the car, its on and I use it... no problems......

I wouldn't be so fast to take the blame for it going bad just because you were using it while charging.

The phone basically runs off the battery.... drain it completely dead dead and plug it in, the phone still won't boot till the battery has a change to get a little juice in it.

You indeed had a heat issue, but the question is why.

last week I took a trip with a buddy, he had his laptop tethered to my phone while driving down the interstate. doing well too, speedtest.net was saying just over a meg down speed. but since my batt was getting low I plugged into the charger and it got warm really quick.. about 15mins and I saw battery temps almost 120, so id take it off charge and hold it in front of the ac vent to cool it down. so I could see how mine could overheat really bad if I left it on. and while I'm rooted and able to overclock, I had the app set to stock level and even tried it with setcpu closed so it defaults to stock and same thing.

next time I was thinking of putting the stock battery in when I do that. might cause less heat

I look forward to your results, please post them. My extended battery should be here Tuesday (shipped it to my work address :) ) have to decide whether or not to buy their charger.

as an update since the new charger. it is deff better, woke up this moring while falling asleep listening to a podcast of motogp stuff. i thought forsure it would be dead. but its still not. watched some nfl network to see how a load effected the battery voltage to see if it was close to dying. but it didn't drop much. so this is what i've got so far.

battery voltage 3704mv
time since unplugged 16h38m 3s
display usage, set to auto not dimmest. 51% of battery use, screen on time of 4h 38m 9s
wifi usage. 16%, ontime 11h 22m 25s
cell stand by 7%, ontime 16h 38m 3s
phone idle 7% ontime 11h 58m
browser 7%, cpu total 33m 22s, cpu foreground 32m 29s
android system 6%, cpu total 24m 46s, cpu foreground 43s.
mediaserver 4% cpu total 14m 4s

so as you can tell its been used for sure. i don't know how the nfl mobile app compares to say youtube vides, but i've used it about as much as i normally watch youtube stuff before finding the nfl app llol.

i'm very happy with the charger, its a little pricey at first. but after using it. i think its worth buying. plus i love being able to keep the stock battery charged at all times as a back up waiting for me and the idea of not having to worry, have i had the phone plugged in for a full 8 hours, is it really charged or not.

Well, I finally managed to get the stubborn battery cover on yesterday afternoon and started using the new battery. Here are the current stats:

1d 7h 14m 8s since unplugged

Battery voltage - 3766mV (up from 3744mV minutes ago)
Display usage (auto brightness on for the most part) - 38%
Phone idle - 12%
Cell standby - 11%
Mediaserver - 8%
Browser -7%
Android System - 7%
Maps - 6%
Wi-Fi - 5%
Voice calls - 4%
Android OS - 3%

I've still got a bit left to do to finish draining the battery. As is typical, the BatteryLife widget has been at 5% for a long time now, while Battery Left is currently reading 0:00 at 1%. Though still inaccurate (not having had a full drain an recharge to read yet), it's currently estimating full battery life to be 17 hrs 12 min. I'll likely let it run with wifi, gps, iheartradio, and maps on overnight until it expires. Then I'll switch back to my stock battery which has been sitting in the Seidio charger all day. The constantly blinking red LED can get annoying after a while, though. ;)

Today I ran my stock battery for the heck of it and it has been unplugged for 15hrs and I'm down to 10% battery life left. I have run it just about as much as my extended battery. I'm going to charge the extended on and run it tomorrow to see if it holds up.

When you don't charge your extended battery overnight do you turn off wifi, mobile network and anything else that can drain the battery overnight until the morning? just a question I had for people in this discussion.

I don't turn anything off, thats not usually off. WiFi and BT are off, because in gereral, I only leave them on when i'm using them. I treat the extended battery just like the stock battery.

I'm down to 3987 after some about 30 mins of streaming radio, a handful of texts, browsing the market for a bit and downloading a few things, and playing with new live wallpaper. It seems a bit better then my stock battery, but i've not been able to do a realiable comparison to see exactly what the difference is. Its not as apparent or dramatic as i'd expect given that its a 2600, but its better then my initial one that they replace for me.

Is the charger just a multi battery charger from seidio? Are you getting different/faster charging with this then the stock moto cable? I guess i'm just trying to see what the reason to buy this would be.

Well, the battery arrived today. I had decided to, em, "spread the wealth" by ordering the battery from Amazon, the multimedia dock from the Droid Forums Store and the holster from Seidio.

The holster arrived first (hours before the battery). It's designed for the Droid with the extended battery, but it uses magnets for closure. The ad and the online chat assured me that the magnets won't make the phone change into another mode. I'll have to trust them on that as I won't be charging this until tonight. Without the extended battery the phone can move around and get closer to the magnets.

The multimedia dock hasn't arrived yet, which means I'll be charging it tonight the same way I did when I first got the Droid...just plugging it straight in.

My extended battery should be here any minute (tracking info says its on the truck out for delivery). I just decided to order the multi charger today because of an on line chat I had with a siedio Rep. He reiterated what others here have said. You have to condition the battery, maybe a couple of cycles. With this charger, I can leave the extended battery charging and still use the phone with the stock battery if the big guy is not fully charged.
Also this way I can keep my stock charger here at work. The wall charger is faster than charging the phone from my computer via USB.

Ah, gotcha. You'll have to let us know how that product works out for you.

I charged it 10.5 hours (ending at 6:30AM) and the initial reading was 4165mV. At present it's 3843, and the phone is telling me that I need to charge it NOW. I'm going to let it run dry for Battery Left.

Oh, and the multimedia dock arrived today.
