Seidio 2600mAh extended battery

I charged it 10.5 hours (ending at 6:30AM) and the initial reading was 4165mV. At present it's 3843, and the phone is telling me that I need to charge it NOW. I'm going to let it run dry for Battery Left.

Oh, and the multimedia dock arrived today.

I am waiting for the multi charger still, but I wanted to post what I have seen so far with the extended battery.
I had already installed the battery left widget and I had an app called battery graph (which may now be useless for me). Battery left has been telling me since about 9 last night that I have 0:00 time left. It had been accurate on the stock battery for a couple of days too. Battery graph has been riding at what looks like 5% or less since then too. That was expected; I am assuming battery left will recalibrate itself as I charge the battery back to full. This morning just to get it to die I have had wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS on for about 2 hours so far (very uncharacteristic for me). I have my fully charged stock battery with me for when it finally does die. So far I have great hopes for this new battery.

On this same subject, how long will we have to put up with the blinking red light when we really have another whole day of battery life left (possibly)? Is this something that would have to be done by Motorola/Google? Its a bit more aggravating than the red lined battery icon in the notification panel, but it would be nice if they were both based a little more on reality.

The battery died after about 38 continuous hours. I plugged it into the new multimedia dock and it came on for a few seconds, then it rebooted. Then it repeated (on a few seconds then rebooting).

And repeated.

And repeated.

A bit disconcerting to say the least.

I did see that the battery was at about 2275 mV at that point. I removed the multimedia dock out of the equation, but it did the same thing. I figured it was due to the low voltage and left it that way during the night. In the morning it was fine.

Later on I might get the Multi-Function Battery Charger, but I've already spent $100 changing over to the extended battery (that includes battery, multimedia charger and holster) so I want to wait a bit.

I figured it was pretty well known that the 3G chip uses more battery power than the WiFi chip.

I've also had the rebooting issue happen before after plugging in right after it died. I've read at least one or two other people reporting it as well. It seems odd that the extended battery does this when the stock does not. I understand that the higher capacity means it has to charge longer, but you would think that if the stock battery can run off of a minimal charge while being plugged in, so could the extended. a time or two i've had to wait 20-30 mins before i could reliably use the phone, but a lot of time I an plug in and start using....so i'm not sure what the issue is. it doesn't seem consistant for me.

Sorry I did not know that, I'm not that familiar with the circuitry inside. Wouldn't that only be true though if I were using the 3g chip, like being on the phone? I was just saying I turned extra stuff on trying to get the battery to drain.
By the way battery left is telling me 3769 mV. Is there a feeling out there yet for about how many mVs it dies at?

It really depends on your reception. A good 3G can use less power than a bad Wifi. Some good information at Brighthand.com - SmartPhone and PDA Discussion

Anyway, earlier in this thread, Windstrings said that ones you get about 3350 you have only minutes of light use left. When I put my Droid on the multimedia dock to charge after it had run down completely, the battery was at 2375 or so.

I would like to know if anyone has had any success in rewriting the battery firmware to read the 2800Mah extended battery, or any extended battery for that matter. the way I see it if someone wrote the firmware in the first place, with root you should be able to rewrite and be done with it. I could not deal with the inaccurate readings and multiple restarts throughout the day. The only time I should have to restart is when I flash a new ROM or do something in root explorer, not to see how much juice I have left. I have talked with someone in this thread who deleted the battery file in the system.build in hopes it would rewrite itself to read the larger capacity battery and they said it didn't make a difference. Someone out there has to be able to break this...Davinci Code of the Droid Battery Firmware

I agree, which I know is easier than to do ever the OP is requesting but it is a shame that this phone battery meter can not read battery life properly. My wife has the Eris with an extended battery and her phone reads battery life properly. I even installed the battery left app on her phone and it works flawlessly.

I have since switched to using my stock battery because I could not take thinking I had more battery life on my phone than I really did. I would always charge my phone at night because I was never sure I had enough power to make it through a 2nd day. For that I just use my stock battery.

Well I am going to dig around on the net and in my system files to see if I can find a solution, and I would definately be willing to troubleshoot some "good" ideas if anyone has any. This battery left widget seems alright but there is nothing like the stock meter. I need something I can Count on. The red flashing LED sucks too, even though the LED's hack can take care of that. I like my LED's and don't think getting a sixty dollar battery should take away from the other cool features of my phone.

This is going to double as my introduction post, sorry to all the forum police. I've come to the Droid 3 weeks ago from a few years hacking on BBerries (storm blah). I had root done on the Droid in the first week, and I'm having a blast romming, theming, playing with the launchers (please fix helix2!), OC'ing, and of course THE SEIDIO EXTENDED BATTERY!

Believe it or not I have probably read over half of the posts in this thread (one reason I make my introduction here), so I am pretty well schooled at how the battery, meter, battery left widget, and charging work. Many thanks to all who have contributed here (expecially Preinvent, can't wait to buy a premium version even if it's what we already got!).

So I guess my real point here is to reiterate what many others have said(and bump). I love the extended battery. To me it is not a big deal about the meter not reading. About me being able to OC, wifi, surf, etc, screen on, GPS, all day long, with no regard? I'm happy. I know what to expect with a full charge (love seeing 4204 mV in the morning), and Battery Left has been very useful (once I was used to gauging how it works / calibrates). I also do like the feel of the bigger battery case, and it is certainly easier to use with my long skinny fingers.

By the way I'm at 3919 mV, so far today, I've been unplugged for 8 hours. I bet I could go until this time tomorrow if I didn't charge and just turned her off when I go to bed. I'm beyond the first few full discharges, I just plug it in every night now.

If you are on the fence about buying this battery, I say go for it. If you know you need the battery meter to be exact from day one, I'll be honest. You should pass.

Good luck to all, good community here. --Mike

This extended battery has lasted almost 2 full days and I have been doing extra things with my phone I don't normally do (wifi and bluetooth and havng the screen on full brightness) just because I was pushing it just to see how good it really was. I do think having a rough idea when it was about to die is important though. I don't want to root or hack anything but it would be nice if my LED worked as expected. I can't wait till I get Battery Left calibrated.

I just noticed something and wondered if anyone else had. I have an app called Battery Graph and I noticed it shows it charging up to full in about 5 hours. Then there is a sharp discharge curve (straight line really) from 100% down to 5%, and then starts charging again till full. The graph only goes back a few days and it has done it every time I charged the phone both with the original charger and the multi from Seidio which I just got Friday. I might mention that I have been asleep during the discharge time. I'm just curious what the heck is going on in there. I know I did not see this when I was using the stock battery. Thanks.

Haha, Hi! :beer2:

Sorry, I do not have a good suggestion for you on the battery graph. I would doubt that you are actually discharging the battery to 5% and recharging back to 100 every night, though. Seems to me,it is more likely the way the stock meter reads the battery charge is messing up your graphs. I just introduced myself though, I dont know squat! --Mike

Alright so I went ahead and "bit the battery" per say, I just ordered the Seidio 2800 battery with the case, holster, and dock. I already have the Verizon holster and Motorola Dock which I can't use with the extended battery and I have been contemplating a Seidio case anyways so I will keep posting if I find any resolve in the blinking led or incorrect battery meter

My Droid has been naked since Nov, 6th

Still Rockin the Curved Unlock Wheel

Yea I just ordered the 2800 and the spare battery charger last night. If the Eris reads the battery better, cant someone chop up the Eris ROM or kernel and import the battery info into the Droid?
