Seidio Case

Received my case today after ordering last Wed. I got the ash grey, which has a very nice, understated look.

Unfortunately, like a few others have mentioned, there seem to be some quality control issues in the manufacturing of these cases. The back piece of my case arrived with some scuffing and chipping, while the front piece has popped off once already after installing it.

I'm gonna contact Seidio tomorrow to get a replacement sent. It's a nice case with a great texture, but quality control definitely seems to be an issue here. For $30, I don't expect to be getting a damaged case. I guess I'll see how their customer service is at resolving this.

Following up my original post, the top part of my case popped off today during normal use. Not very promising after just one day of use.

I contacted Seidio today and they're sending a replacement out to me. Based on what seidioseidio has said here, however, I've a feeling that the replacement may have the same issues (hopefully the back piece will at least be free of scuffs/damage). It's unfortunate because it is a fine case, otherwise.

I think Seidio should refund the shipping costs as well for those with the cover popping problem. I don't particularly like paying shipping both ways for a defective product, and I don't believe it's fair to pass try to pass the blame over to Motorola. Perhaps if this were a $5 or $10 case, we'd be more tolerant of these kinds of issues, but when you're charging a premium of $30 for a plastic case, I think customers have the right to complain and expect their money back in full for something that just doesn't work.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the replacement will be better.

Just got my case tonight and mine is the one with the Embossed Logo instead of the painted.

the case is pretty snug but I have the problem some people have reported. The Clip of the bottom piece on top of the volume control is not clipping completely so the case is loose. The other 3 clip anchors firmly. So just that one needs to be adjusted.

Is there a batch that doesn't have this problem? or do I have to just wait a while for a new design to come out?

If it's worth anything I got the Ash Grey case last week and it fits fine. But a post from a few pages back (after I got mine) said his new Ash Grey didn't fit correctly. Looks like it's hit or miss.... But it looks like Seidio is willing to keep sending you cases until one fits, lol.:)

Seidio is trying to say this is Motorola's fault (bad tolerances in the Droid production) but personally I don't see it. Not trying to call anyone a liar, but I'll bet anything Moto has FAR more QC checks and tighter tolerances (manufacturing a $500 phone) than Seidio (a $30 case which probably cost them only a few dollars, if that). A few people have also posted that several 'replacements' had the same fit problems so, make your own conclusion(s)... Just my $.02

I haven't gotten my seidio case yet, but there definitely are variations in the motorola manufacturing process.

1. My fiance's Droid slides MUCH easier than mine does
2. My battery backing pops off easily and hers doesn't
3. My screen is sunken in a little more than hers is

Those are the obvious differences with both our droids being naked. I'm not saying that seidio doesn't have differences as well, but the fact is that most likely both have issues and on the rare times that you get both being just a bit "off" is when you have problems like some of the people here

I will point out, for the sake of newcomers to the post that, as reported by SeidioSeidio that it is very likely that these problems likely only "[apply] to a very small portion of cases that [they] have shipped." When anyone reads threads like this on any forum they should be aware that there is only a very small percentage of any given market that takes part in forums like this. So it's possible that these few complaints could inaccurately represent the % of 'faulty' cases being shipped. But then they could also understate the problem. So take everything with a fair amount of skepticism and weight things for yourself.

You should also note that people who are unsatisfied are something like 5x more likely to post negative reviews than positive ones. Factor all of that in, and I think their research is accurate.

Also, note that many of the posters here got defective cases, and the replacements do not either. The fact that the replacements don't fit, and many people's first cases fit also seems to lend credibility to Seidio's argument that there are production inconsistencies in the droid. I wonder if these replacements that keep being sent back would fit my phone.

Poorly drilled holes and broken clips as you said are a completely different story. I'm only referring to the fitment issues.

mine fits perfectly! My brother has the Body Glove, and when he saw my Seidio case he thought my droid was naked. It's PERFECT! I <3 it. I did have to get the top piece replace, but seidio did it, hassel free!

Every product has tolerances. If Motorola is making all Droids to the tolerances on their drawings then it is just passing the buck for Seidio to blame it on Motorola. If Seidio can't produce a case that fits the normal Droid tolerances then it is their fault. However, if Motorola is making Droids that exceed their tolerances or the tolerances are beyond normal commercial manufacturing tolerances then Seidio has a valid excuse. The problem that I see is that I doubt it if Seidio can get the tolerances on the Droid, so they have to do the best they can and live with it. I also agree that they should cover the return shipping if their case does not work. When I order from verionwireless.com, they include a return shipping label with my order in case I have to return it.

it's the droid's frame that very likely has less variation in the dimensions through the manufacturing process than seidio's case. seeing that the frame is metal and they're using a cast, i doubt there's much variation in the external dimensions. seeing that seidio's case is plastic there's a much higher possibility for variations in the way the plastic sets as it cools, especially with the small pieces like the clips...which is what most people are having problems with.

i just don't buy it. i understand seidio wants to make sure people keep all possibilities for the cause of this issue in mind, but to blame fitment issues on a piece of metal vs a piece of plastic? seems to hold more water the other way around doesn't it?

that said, it may just be a trial and error thing with the cases. i'm not really sure there's much seidio can do to get the tolerance for the cases much closer. the clips are just too small. if you have a problem just keep sending them back to you get one that fits! all the fitment issues aside, their case is the nicest on the market so far imo. glad mine fits great! :)

Just got the innocase and holster that I ordered last Friday morning and so far the fitment is great. Snapped on without any problems and seems to be a perfect fit. I didn't have any problems with the top piece fighting me on snapping it into place. I bought my droid in the middle of December. I wonder is there is a correlation between build date and the people having problems with the top fitting correctly. I will update if I run into any issues.

Just got my case today. It's safe to say that I love my droid even more with the case and screen protector! The protector definitely made my screen more responsive than the naked screen, I don't have to drag on the screen nearly as hard as before, and it seemed to make it clearer to boot. Something about my stock screen was a little off, horizontal lines at certain light angles, and this cleared it right up. The case is great too, the grip is really nice and the look is real sharp.

All in all I'm very happy now

lol at the impatient people... Just keep in mind business days are monday-friday. That being said, most times you order something on a friday it wont be processed till monday. Don't know seidio's policy tho... just sayin

I dont think it is an issue with impatient people (and why shouldnt someone be impatient if they have already paid for a product?) but is an issue with the shipping\response delay from Seidio at this point. I put in an order last Tuesday (Jan 5th) evening and requested Fed Ex shipping and have still not received any shipping notification. I have already been charged for the items also (which normally doesnt happen until an item ships I thought?) Since that time, I have decided to cancel the order (Friday morning Jan 8th) and requested such through their support site via email (since no one was logged onto their chat software) and have still not heard a single word from them. I am very disappointed in their customer service at this point and it sounds like I am not the only ones having issue with lack of contact\response. I have requested status on my cancellation request but who knows when I will hear something back.......

Figured I would post an update on my issue and Seidio's response. Wish I could say it was an update with good news. Yesterday (12 Jan) I was finally able to reach Seidio on their online chat. I spoke to an individual about my order and asked her to cancel it. She told me they were unable to cancel orders via the online chat and to call in. I called and spoke to an someone who asked for my order number and I asked her to cancel the order. She said "no problem" and asked if I needed anything else, I said no and hung up. As of this morning (Jan 13th) my order still showed as processing and I had received no notice of a cancelled order in email. I call back today at lunch and spoke to another person who said the order was never cancelled and that the order had shipped today!?!? WTH??? Who is running this company? To sum it up:

I ordered an ash grey/leather holster combo on the 5th (charged my card immediately).
The order sat in processing from the 5th - 8th (at which point I asked to cancel via email and received no response)
Sent a follow up email on the 11th (received no response)
Called the company on the 12th and cancelled the order (no email stating the cancellation went though was received)
Called the company again on the 13th to verify cancellation and was told that it shipped today and was never cancelled.

Absolutely ridiculous. I don't care how good the product is if the support level is like this. I would/will never recommend these products to anyone....ever. Hopefully for the rest of you, my experience is one of a few incompetent people and not the entire company....

Wow. When I tried to get support it was nice and fast... sorry

I just received my Innocase today and I'll tell ya, I am VERY pleased with their product. I got it shipped to my front door here in CA from their location in TX in a lil over 2 days! I ordered it at 6pm on the 11th. So with that said, I am very happy. 2. When I opened the package and popped on the case I had no problems at all. The case fit very well, nice and snug. The material felt very smooth and of high quality but not making it too bulky. It actually added for better handling might I add... I had the Verizon Droid Holster Combo prior to this..and although I had no real complaints about that one, I feel this has a more quality feel to it, doesn't feel cheap or look borderline cheesy in comparison to the other. So there goes my $.02. I would highly recommend this to anyone..my bro has a Droid too and he already is placing his order after he saw mine.

I just got notification today that my case/multimedia dock is shipping. Ordered quite awhile ago, didn't expect the wait, but after reading on here that I added a "limited quantities available" item to my order, sorta expected the wait. Haha!

Unfortunately the Droid took a home-run from the dash to the floor in the car and picked up a custom chip in the aluminium for it. :(

Oh well, Nothing a file can't take care of.

Does the protector cover the home-buttons (the bottom icons)? Was thinking about ordering a few but could tell and they don't have it stated on the product page.
