[ROM] [SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] CM9/ICS for Droid 4 -- [BETA 03/05/2012]

I have over clocked the D4 to 1430 MHz on this rom an running stable an is frickin fast as hell it becomes unstable at 1450 MHz I haven't tried 1440 MHz but I will to see if it works

Edit: 1440 MHz works an is stable becomes unstable after 1445 MHz

What happens when its unstable? And what's the negative from overclocked? Just less battery?

When its unstable it just gets laggy that's all no danger to the phone unless u clock higher than the 1500 MHz threshold an I battery life can be impacted but it only depends on what governor u choose or how much u use the phone

Never heard of governors on phones..which one did u choose? I wanna try that

I just use the default one its hot_motplug the performance one is the one that will kill ur battery even during idle cuz it keeps ur cpu maxed out at 1440 lol ur phone is extremely fast but u need to be plugged into the wall to use it

O ok, so use hot_motplug?
I went to rom toolbox and then cpu control...the max control setting is 1200mhz.and the slider max is 800mhz i think..
Is that how u overclock ur phone?

No u need to use the droid 4 utility an select option 7 then reboot then use script manager that was installed with option 7 that u selected an got to ur sdcard-ext an then copy the 1300 MHz an rename it to 1500 an then edit the script from 13000000 to 15000000 an also select the boot an SU option before saving then download quickclock an go to calibrate an set the max oc an max cpu to what ever frequency u want then go to adjust an push full edit it should say vsel edit enable if it says disabled tap it again the go to calibrate an set the speed u want but make sure the top vsel say 63 an the second from top says 61 an then click set cpu won't survive reboot if u don't save it as a profile an set it apply on boot

OK awesome I'm gonna give it a shot thanks ...if something goes wrong could this brick u

There's always a chance of bricking if done improprerly but that's why u do it in safe strap so if it goes wrong u can unbrick it also don't apply it on boot or u will cause the app to crash u have to redo the quickclock steps on every boot an just the quickclock steps not the whole thing I have been running the phone at 1440 MHz for 13 hrs now an have had no problems

So QuickClock Advanced positively works with our phone???? I was nervous to try it, I used it religiously with my D2 and am stoked if I can really use it with the D4 ICS.. And can I simply install the app to undervolt my phone or do I have to do all that melarky with Droid 4 utility u mentioned before?

Yes it does but u have to have a backup of it cuz the market will say its incompatible an the app itself will say it to cuz the rom identifies the phone as XT894 an not a droid 4 but it works an yes u have to use the utility an do the steps or it won't OC an the speed is unbelievable in my opinion

Well, overclocking always shortens the life of anything (I think the only exception to this is if you keep the voltage at the stock levels or less, and if you watch temps). And it's impossible to tell by how much it is shortened. Your making the processor do something that it wasn't manufactured to do. Underclocking however is the complete opposite if you can get it stable. I tried QuickClock, it didn't work though...
Keep in mind, overclocking causes the processor and phone to heat up more and quicker then normal. The phone should only get so hot (idk the temps for this phone) or else it'll reboot/shut itself off. But when a CPU gets very hot, it starts damaging itself.

Maybe I was just spoiled by an excellent developer community, but cyanogen 7 on my Droid incredible was flawless. Everything worked as well as, or better than, a stock rom.

My point is, don't lose hope in the ingenuity of the cyanogen team. Their goal has always seemed to be a complete stock replacement rom, that means everything that you'd expect a stock rom to do, cyanogen does, and on 7, that was definitely what they accomplished!

I wasn't bashing Cyanogenmod. They create the awesome base, which is Cyanogenmod, which is what this ROM is based on. But our developers, Hashcode included, does much harder work. Cyanogenmod already finished what they wanted to do, right now they are just improving upon it. Devs like Hashcode, they are putting many hours into fixing bugs to allow their ROM to work on our device, and further CM's rep while they just add features. Which I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that. I'm sure it wasn't easy to create CM7 or CM9, but believe me, it's harder fixing these bugs. I'm just saying that the bugs in this ROM are under Hashcode and the RAZR developers eyes, not
Cyanogenmod.
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices , Droid 4 isn't there cuz this ROM and all the fixes, are being entirely made/ported by Hashcode and whomever help he may or may not have. The credit and satisfaction should go to him for this ROM.

Just flashed 3/19 and 4g picked up and transmitted data successfully with in 20 seconds of my phone powering on. I no longer have to switch to GSM and back to LTE/CDMA. That being said this change has also come around since I STOPPED using the "Reboot" option on my phone. Earlier in this thread someone said that they only had problems with 4G when they used the reboot function instead of powering off and back on again. since I have stopped using reboot my 4G problems prior to 3/19 were limited and now they are gone.

When I flash the new nightly I only wipe cache and dalvak cache NOT DATA.

Also any help on how to overclock would be very helpful. there was a post earlier that described the process but it was very unclear on certain things and I have never used droid 4 utility's so I would need a little bit more in depth of a guide. Any help is appreciated!
