SNES quickie

I dunno why you guys continue to whine about needing help using that ****ty freeroms site, I hookd up two people.now.with working roms, ive got the complete set for nes snes and genesis

td854,

Thank you so much for your informative post!!! I had never seen that info any ware. At least not an a Droid forum.

It's much easier to just download roms on the PC ahead of time and copy them over to the SD card. A lot of rom sites use a redirection system or FTP download system that the android's browser just doesn't understand. The websites usually do this to prevent hotlinking (aka someone posting a direct link to a rom on a site like this) to save their bandwidth.

I'm sure there are sites out there that don't do this but I don't know of any personally.

What the hell. Does anyone know an easy way to get roms for sensnoid? I'm computer illerate and can't figure this out. Someone help me please!

Basic steps using PC Download method:

- Go to rom site of choice (on PC), I use EmuParadise.org download rom and save somewhere convenient.
- Connect your droid to the PC and mount the SD card (if you don't know how to do this give up now >_>; )
- Open the droid in Computer/My Computer, it will most likely look like an unnamed removeable device, if it is grayed out then it is not mounted.
- Once you have this folder open, make a new folder called Roms and open that folder.
- In the new folder, create a folder called SNES, open that folder.
- Copy the rom that you downloaded (if it has a .7z at the end you must use 7zip to extract it before you copy it to the SNES folder)
- Unmount/unplug the droid.
- Open SNESoid, at the top there is a blue SD card button, press it.
- Scroll down and find the Roms folder, press it.
- Press the SNES folder and your Roms should show up.

lol wait, people are actually trying to download the roms from the droid?

hahahahahahahahahaha

btw, most people have winrar installed, which is compatible with 7zip while 7zip extractor isn't compatible with a whole lot. I use winrar as an extractor and 7zip for compressing.

And ill say again, I've got the complete rom collection for everything from the nes to the n64, so feel free to PM me a game list of what you want.

I've managed to get roms to my phone, but I can't find anything that isn't real. Everything out there has been hacked. Do you have any of the snes games? Particularly super mario world and donkey knog 1 and 2. Id appreciate it

I am a little surprised, shocked and saddened that there are so many users on the forum that we KNOW from other threads use the SNES emulator but no one will help us. :(

Well, I guess that leaves us to figure it out for ourselves so here goes:

Part 1: Downloading a SNES ROM from the internet to your phone:

1. Go to a website that has roms freeroms etc
2. When you find a download link to a rom that you would like hold your fingure on the link and you will get a choice of what to do (I am using Dolphin HD browser so it may be different depending on your browser) select SAVE LINK. This will download the rom to a file instead of just displaying the code in your browser. Note your file will be downloaded with the extension .txt

Part 2: Renaming your file to .7z
1. Open up Astro file manager
2. Locate the file you have just download and change the file extension.
3. To do this hold your finger on the file until a menu pops up.
4. Choose EDIT
5. Another menu pops up select RENAME
6. A text box with the name of the file pops up. Change the extension from .txt to .7z
7. A warning message will pop up and you will click OK

Part 3: Unzipping (unpacking) your file
1. Open up AndroZip
2. Locate the file you have just renamed.
3. Click it once (do NOT hold your figure on it as that will open up an option menu)
4. A menu will pop up titled CHOOSE ACTION
5. If you already created a folder to put your roms in choose EXTRACT TO: then navigate to that folder.
6. At the top of the screen on the left will be a button EXTRACT HERE. Choose this button.
7. Next a window will pop up that says UNPACKING 7z. It may take a while for this to work so be patient.

Part 4: Playing your new ROM
1. Open up your SNES emulator
2. Navigate to the folder where your ROM is located
3. You will see at least two maybe up to 6 different files that are called what ever game you downloaded but have a different letter at the end like U or E. and all files will be .smc
4. Go through all the files and see which one works. Some are different languages and others just won't work.
5. You can delete the unused .smc files and the origianl .7z file if you like.

NOTE: Androzip DOES have the ability to rename BUT for some reason after renaming the file it would not unpack. I had to go back and do it again with Astro.

Enjoy!! :)

PS: If anybody knows an easier quicker wasy (without a computer) to download and play SNES ROMS on your phone PLEASE let us know.
THANK YOU! This was perfect! I just tried starting up Super Mario Kart and waalaa!

Works perfectly for me... what's so funny??

it's a hassle and an extra 500 steps

Its only the SNES ones that are zipped that way. well a least not the NES, GB and GBA ones. and if you're not at your computer it works well. It only takes a few minutes. There is a bit of a learning curve for those that are not as "tech Savvy". But ones they get it right, it should take scarcely longer then the standar .zip.

I got several games working with no time at all. It's not long at all if you know what you're doing and you just do it. Plus renaming with Androzip makes it even quicker, don't even touch Astro unless you really have to.

Plus you said:

hahahahahahahahahaha

And yes, yes we are. I'm bored at lunch in school at a table, I'm going to get roms, it's not bad.

haha niice

Well it's not high school or anything ,though I wish this was out in HS. But I only graduated a year ago, and in digital design now but still is awesome ;]

Check out my sig, I'm having fun with photoshop (:
