Something BIG is Coming - Nexus Prime Anyone?

The Nexus Prime is a major hardware and software upgrade! Haven't you seen the rumored specs? Haven't you heard it will be running ICS? I mean, sorry, I really just don't get your post.

Sent using common sense.

i think his point was that Apple's announcement yesterday was: new phone, new OS, new features, and dual core.

the Nexus will supposedly announce as: a new phone, new OS, new features, and dual core.

yet, everyone is decrying how disappointing Apple's announcement was, but people are almost wetting themselves with excitement over the announcement of the Nexus.

i see his point, but i kinda disagree. the Nexus device is going to be LTE, which is a huge advancement over the iP4 --> iP4s "upgrade". also, the screen will be bigger and better than the previous Nexus, which is something Apple didn't do even tho it was expected to. most are expecting NFC to be incorporated, which is also a pretty big and new feature. finally, a new OS with an unlocked and open developer device opens up all sorts of possibilities, which i think is one of the main things fueling the excitement over the announcement.

This are all just rumors of course, but some of my reasons would be:

4.0" --> 4.65" screen
800×480 --> 1020x720
Gingerbread --> ICS
Capacitive buttons --> No physical buttons
1 Ghz --> 1.2~1.5 Ghz
512 MB --> 1 gb RAM
Plastic Body --> Metal Body
1,500 mAh --> 2,000 mAh battery
10.8 mm --> 8.8 mm thick
No Verizon --> Verizon
No LTE --> LTE

Devil's advocate, since I work for Apple:

Screen size is a subjective thing...some people like bigger screens some don't
Retina Display is still the best
ios4 --> ios5
Ok on the buttons, if that's considered a huge deal
a4 processor --> dual core a5
512MB RAM --> 1GB RAM
Plastic vs metal is subjective also
iPhone doesn't have battery issues
iPhone doesn't have thickness issues
iPhones on Verizon
LTE is a good one

So really the only big improvement is LTE, and that's not an Android innovation haha...flamesuit...on.

I'm still getting my Nexus Prime though

Yeah agreed, these are the reasons I'd choose the Prime over the iPhone4S, but the iPhone4S isn't as "incremental" as people would like to think.

What does it DO that is new???? Other than LTE?
To my eyes it doesn't DO anything special. Moto added WebTop, Apple added Siri, HTC added Beats Audio, Samsung added what a "follow all the Apple v Samsung lawsuits" app?

Don't get me wrong, if I was due for an upgrade I would definitely look at the Prime, but I don't get why people who aren't eligible are ga-ga over it. I can't see anything that would make me want to pay OoC for it. That's all.

I agree with your statements, but I wasn't really trying support what makes it better than the iphone because the latest iteration of it has brought the phone up to par with a lot of other phones on the market. I was more of pointing out what makes the next nexus stand out from other androids because, if it has been once, it has been said 1,000 times, people who buy apples will buy apples, people who buy androids will buy androids. I definitely don't think the Nexus is going to steal a lot of iphone users as that is definitely not it's target audience.

Disclaimer: I know I was replying to the question
Everyone piles on Apple for the "minor" changes to iPhone, yet everyone seems to be slurping up even less changes on the newest Nexus device!!! I'm just wondering why this phone would cause anyone to upgrade early when it literally does nothing new. If your 2 years are up it makes plenty of sense...
.
But I was directing more of the why do people want it who are not up for an upgrade and less to the what makes this update better than apples.

I think the simplest response to this would be that it (if rumors are all true) will be the first unlocked/open/dev friendly phone on Verizon since the Droid 1. Something a multitude of Android fans will flock too, I would imagine.

New "Something BIG is coming" advert from Samsung!

What are those 3 plugs on the side of the device? Looks like a set of composite outs. I bet thats a tablet of some sort.

If this Samsung Galaxy Nexus Droid Prime comes to Verizon it will be my next phone.

Touchwiz and bloat don't scare me, root and rom will fix that.

I want this form factor with the rumored specs...is that too much to ask big red?
