Stock Motoblur ICS for droid4

So it's the ol' "I'll cross the bridge when I get there" approach?

That's usually the approach I take. Hello ICS.

Is there anything that doesn't work? Like video, data, tether, camera etc?

Everything I've tried works for me. I did notice that my phone gets a little hotter during normal use, which is not that suprising since ICS is probably more intensive. I wouldn't be shocked if the battery life was worse too, but so far it's not unusably short.

People do not try to fastboot back if you flash this leak. YOU WILL END UP SOFT BRICKED. A phone stuck in fastboot is useless.

It sounds like a hit or miss on the FXZ restore. I know I had to fastboot my bionic and it failed on my dell laptop, but my toshiba worked great. Just make sur you use the original USB cord that came with the phone. Other cords cause failures.

Can anyone confirm whether webtop 3.0 Beta is included with this package and working properly? I'm on my honeymoon so I don't want to be stuck in fastboot while I'm away. Just in case (I only brought the dell laptop).

webtop works, it is the 3.0 beta so firefox is gone, you basically just get a tablet version of ics with the mouse and kb.

Worked for me

I followed the below instructions and I was able to install ICS and keep root. So far I haven't had any force close issues or had to wipe my data/cache. I think the reason why is because this is a secondary phone for me, so I didn't really have much installed.

I did this and it totally worked. Thanks! However, the upgrade process was iffy and a bunch of apps were freezing, so I had to wipe data, but you must do this *after* you already have root in ICS, otherwise wiping data will kill your su backup (I think).

So to summarize:

I am coming from the OTA 219.

1) Unfroze all the stock Motorola/VZW bloatware (obviously only need to do this if you've frozen it to begin with)

2) Backup data with MyBackup Pro (specifically things like text messages and call logs)

3) Install OTA Rootkeeper, back up root, temp unroot, then restore root. I didn't reboot after each step, but as with everything else YMMV.

4) Download the .zip that's floating around, extract it to find another .zip, put this on your sdcard.

5) Go into the bootloader by rebooting while holding down both volume keys, then go down to recovery. Select apply update and select the zip on the sdcard.

6) Pray

7) After everything installs you should boot into ICS. The setup process here was very finicky for me and clicking the wrong thing would cause a hard freeze (you can force the D4 to hard reboot by holding down power and volume down for 15s). What you have to do here is somehow manage to run OTA rootkeeper and restore root. Make sure you have the superuser app and it works!

8) I had to go back to the recovery menu here and wipe data/cache in order to get my system stable, ymmv, but it seems like if you have a lot of data (especially a lot of text messages and custom settings) the data causes ICS to freak out.

9) Restore your data using mybackup pro.

This is what worked for me, now I am on the ICS leak with root.

Is this voodoo? I realize there is a Moto factory cable, but the OEM cable is not it. I feel like insisting on the OEM cable is almost like a cargo cult type thing...

As an aside, is it possible a FACTORY cable will allow us to restore 215/219?

Going to be a bummer if we finally got fastboot files just to have them become useless once ICS lands...

If you power down the phone from flashboot mode, hold vol UP and vol DOWN keys and press POWER, you can select Normal Boot or something like that and go back into the ICS leak at least

edit: from what I've been reading, we can't use these fastboot files anymore because we now have a new kernel

ok. some reason when i extract the rar to a folder, no other zip shows up.

the zip I have is named Blur_Version.6.13.219.XT894.Verizon.en.US.zip. The file that people are linking now might not be zipped again, so that might just be the file you want on your SD card.

i tried that, it failed 3 times.

Im running SS and eclipse rom on the other side, but i tried to load this on the stock rom side. im new with the whole moto and SS stuff, my other phone is a Tbolt and thats simple to rom and delete roms but i do not know how to delete eclipse and then I can delete SS and try again
