I'd get Titanium Backup from the market and they have a button called Problems. It will download a current and clean copy of Busybox. I still think your problem is related to that. According to Titanium their install will take care of the Busybox permissions errors.

Try that.

when i type
su
"permision denied"
then i type
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
"mount: permission denied (are you root?)

Two things: 1) Do you have an app in the app drawer named Superuser Permissions? and 2) What does it say in when you go to the home screen and do Menu/Settings/About Phone under Firmware Version, Baseband Version and Build Number?

Those questions are for all of you.

Question 1
yes i do have an app drawer named super user permission with the ninja on it

Question 2
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: C_01.3E.01P
building number: voles-userdebug 2.1 ERE25 23960 test-keys

Titanium backup:
"Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes Busybox, and try again."

1 - Android Terminal Emulator is the terminal emulator you want from the market.

2 - If you are using Rom Manager, look for the bottom option, Flash Alternative Recovery. That is the sholes (now droidmod) sprecovery bootloader. When you flash the "alternative" recovery method you no longer have Clockwork available and will have SPRecovery at reboot-X time.

3 - You can not do sprecovery nandroid recoveries with the clockwork bootloader and you can't do Clockwork recoveries with the sprecovery bootloader. I had a /sdcard/clockwork/nandroid folder on my card and also have a /sdcard/nandroid folder too. Guess which folder Clockwork uses and guess which one sprecovery uses?

For those who don't know what a terminal emulator is: it emulates terminal mode, or in layman's screen it puts you at a command prompt on your phone. This lets you type Linux/Android commands to do various things on your phone like move files, change permissions, etc.

If the droidmod's dmupdater has permission issues then we're really having fun.
Do you have a backup and with what recovery system was it taken? If you need sprecovery and nothing else is working for you the steps in link 1 of my signature for installing sprecovery should work.

Anyone feel free to drop a recap of where they are at if they still need assistance.

Unfortunately, I'm getting called in to work, but I'll have to try this tonight.
One item of note, rom manager will not allow me to flash alternative recovery.

Post back with how you make out. I don't have clockwork installed right now and have the free rom manager version so I don't know if you need the paid version to do that. Is it grayed out for you or are you getting an error?

rom manager wont let me download latest clockwork recovery due to no su permisions no my nandroid recovery is sprecovery and rom manager did not do a back up nandroid has no file list ive tryed everything on this post but to no avail

i have clock work and i have no super permisions when in android emulatior i type su and it says permisions denied

What rom do you currently have installed, what issues if any are you having with it?
(I don't know if you got cyanogen installed, are working in trying to get it installed, trying to get it uninstalled, etc)

What directions/methods did you use to get to the above rom, if it differs from the below one?

What was the previous rom you had installed and what directions/method did you use to get that one?

Do you have a backup, and if so what kind and where is it?

Do you have root explorer, the superuser app in the app drawer, or other rooting tools you've used in the past?
