Subwoofer Enthusiasts Pics/Info

Ive got an old 12" Alpine Type-S sub in my 3 series and its more than enough for my needs. I love that subwoofer.

@pat: I hear ya. Got that BMW hittin. 750W+?

@brad: Dodges usually seem to run a lil on the big side. Chevys do seem a lil smaller but luckily a tahoe has plenty of room for my long legs. I'm sure you can get a box built for 2 12's in a Sierra so you won't have to give up leg room. Just have to find a good designer/builder.

@supra: It sounds pretty good coming across them. Might want to look at a guy whos screen name on youtube is "AsimHill". He has some pretty good bass boosted songs if your looking for a lil somethin extra.

Anyone out there have any Q Powers? Also anyone have any good way to cool an amp? I got mine under the back seats and didn't want to have to install any fans but maybe just lift it off the floor with some wooden blocks which might be contoured to the floor so they will fit flush on the floor. Thoughts and ideas on that?

I was thinking about going with Subthump, but their boxes are a little pricey for me. I might just build my own box, but I am not good with the carpeting part of it. Its going to be hard to run 2 amps and 2 12's. Its already pretty tight behind the seat with my amp and 10...

4V pre amps are gonna be nice though, my headunit will be delivered tomorrow.

@brad: I'll PM you a link to a very helpful and knowledgeable forum that was made by the legendary Steve Meade. I'm learning most of my new knowledge of car audio from this. Also has a section of nothing but boxes and enclosures. I hope it can help. Also congrats on the headunit.

This is a site i found that has a couple pics of a 2dr silverado with a box and the amp mounted in the middle. It looks pretty good also. Link is below.

Thanks man. My main setback is $$. Well, that and room. I'll check that forum out and try and get some ideas

My cousin had 2 Rockford 12's behind the seats when he owned the truck. It was pretty tight but he didn't care since he has short legs haha

My head unit is nice, way better than my Alpine. The bass is alot deeper and better tone, prob because of the better signal going to the amp...

@brad: Its no problem and that's my main issue also. $ is tight these days. Having short legs must be nice cause I would be so much more comfortable when I'm ridin with my buddies in their trucks. I also imagine everything sounds cleaner with that nice HU (head unit)

Young Jeezy: Put On
Gucci Mane: What Kinda King
Gucci Mane: Bling Bling
Gucci Mane: My Chain

252,

Just read the post you made the other day. I guess I read it too fast and didn't see all of your questions.

My Excelon HU isn't a touch screen, its just a single DIN with 2 line display. I'll get a pic up in a little bit. It really woke up my subwoofer though, with the 4V preamps, I assume. With my Alpine, I had my gain set high. On this head unit I have it set much lower and its way louder and cleaner.

My Kenwood amp is a 300w rms @ 4 ohms unit, and 500w @ 2 ohms. My MTX sub is 4 ohms and is rated at 225w rms, but the peak is 675w which is higher than norm. I got a good deal on the amp, and it leaves alot of room for expansion when I do get 12's. Before, I was running my Pioneer 2 channel amp bridged, which was 150w @ 4 ohms. I can't complain as I got it for free brand new. The interesting thing is the amp made my ported box sound like a sealed box.

I am running 6.5 inch Pioneers up front and 4x6's in the pillars. I am thinking about swapping the 4x6's for 5 1/4's or seeing if I could modify it for a 6 1/2 for more midbass.

I need to Dynomat my truck too, because it can rattle...

Unfortunately, car audio is addicting and while I love my system, there's always something else... haha
