Swype vs SlideIT vs Shapewriter? All look great (and similar)!

What are the differences between the lite and free version. I wish there was an easy way to do punctuation, such as question marks, etc.

I think you get a nag message in the Lite version after awhile and there are language add ons for the paid version I believe...I downloaded the paid version mainly because I wanted to receive updates I was using both Swpye and Shapewriter both of which I liked but SlideIt won me over although I still have ShapeWriter installed I use SlideIt most of the time...

I have to admit that I continue to experience Swype withdrawal after shifting to SlideIt. The "up swipe" for capitalization and the looping for double letters became so natural to me that I've found them to be hard habits to break.

I, too, still have ShapeWriter on my phone though I almost never use it. Frankly, I don't know what it is I don't like about it or find difficult to use but my error rate is consistently higher than with either Swype or SlideIt.

Here what SlideIT support answer my mail :

Dear Sir

The Lite version have some limitations:
You can add only 10 words and delete 10 words.
Bulk update and Save dictionary are disabled.
Limited for 30 days or sum of actions.

Best regards,

One additional positive point for SlideIt that we can't get as Swype users - a connection with the developers.

I sent a list of suggested improvements and they responded within 24 hours with a thoughtful/responsible reply. While I loved using Swype, the lack of this type of connection kinda lurked in the back of my head as a significant negative.

Well, if I pay $6.00 for a keyboard, I would expect developer interaction.

It almost seems like some of you are promoting the paid app... Swype is free and works nearly perfectly. No one is going to buy another one as long as Swype is around. I certainly won't.

Lol well different apps work differently for different people. I agree with their opinions about having a product available on the Market with direct contact to the dev. But in my experience despite it's drawbacks, Swype so far is the quickest for me :) If for whatever reason it no longer works SlideIT will definitely be my next choice.

Yes if I lose Swype I'll go looking for paid apps.

Otherwise I see no point.

Absolutely! I recently purchased Vista for one of my computers and can't get any of the developers at Microsoft to return my calls, dammit!

Comparing the developers of an entire OS and a single developer of an Android app is pretty silly.

Why? Because it's more expensive? Because it's more highly functional? My point is that when I purchase software I'm not buying a personal relationship with a developer; I'm buying a product. I appreciate the opportunity to express my reaction to the product but I don't expect a developer to implement my suggestions or even acknowledge them; not for $6. It's not an investment in the developer's business; it's consumer purchase.
