you might try renaming the otacerts file in the /etc/security folder to otacerts.zip.bak. Make note of the file. Wait a few days or possibly weeks, then remove the .bak. This will stop the OTA from trying to upgrade your phone, but it will pull drain on your battery. You will still need undo root if you want to allow the upgrades. SPRecovery blocks the install so you have to have a stock recovery to allow it to update. IF your still on 2.0.1 then i would install DroidUpdater, this will undo the root process and flash the stock recovery back for you.
dont rename the otacerts file it kills your battery.
that is your problem, you are getting the update because of you baseband. do you have rom manager?
your baseband should be C_01.3E.03P, once you update your baseband the update will go away.
no it sounds too complicated and im half retardeder than dog crap... should i just take my fone to verizon... have them store ALL MY **** and then do a factory settings recovery and have them just plug my fone into their lil thinggy? YA KNOW?!
if you have sp recovery you have voided your warranty, not sure what Verizon would say. if you download rom manager, you dont have to do anything. it does it all for you, you just click on the menu.
I'm not saying this to be mean or anything of the sort. You got people offering to walk you through the process of getting this fixed and your not taking them up on it but just feeling sorry for yourself. You rooted your phone at some point and updating your baseband is easier than that. Just calm down and take one of these guys up on gtalk and you will be fine. VZW will not fix this for you once they see sprecovery your warranty is gone and noted in your file. You can get through this. Its not as hard as it sounds.
I was having the same problem where I would get update message and I would either tell it to wait (and then roll back the root via EasyRoot) or tell it to update, after restarting and then it would get half way through the triangle setup screen and then stop. I would have to pull the battery to get the droid to start back up normally again. No matter how long I left it. Here's my Droid's FW and Baseband 411. I have a Droid "legacy" I guess it'd be called since Droid X is out now.
Am I at the most recent FW version? Do I need to worry about future updates? Will EasyRoot help with updates? I did do a System Update check and it is telling me I do have an update available. Any help would be appreciated!
One more thing, when I click on the "More Info" button, it says it's an "Android Update" and 1.6 MB. blah, blah, enable download of Flash Player, multiple security improvements, etc, etc...
