Start a new thread, this problem is not only over 3 months old it's for the wrong phone.
Yes, fbm it is three months old, but it is for this posters phone.
I was having the same problem where I would get update message and I would either tell it to wait (and then roll back the root via EasyRoot) or tell it to update, after restarting and then it would get half way through the triangle setup screen and then stop. I would have to pull the battery to get the droid to start back up normally again. No matter how long I left it. Here's my Droid's FW and Baseband 411. I have a Droid "legacy" I guess it'd be called since Droid X is out now.
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: C_01.43.01P
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g103d848
android-build@apa26 #1
Build Number: FRG01B
Am I at the most recent FW version? Do I need to worry about future updates? Will EasyRoot help with updates? I did do a System Update check and it is telling me I do have an update available. Any help would be appreciated!
bryanc1, you are not at the most recent FW version. The most recent FW version is FRG22D. I take it you are rooted since you asked if EasyRoot will 'take' care of further updates. It will not. EasyRoot nor UniversalAndroot will re-root your phone if you accept the update.
So that brings us to this. Do you have a custom recovery image installed on your phone? I.E. SPRecovery or ClockworkModRecoery (the latter usually installed via ROM Manager in the market). I have a guide for rooted users to manually install SPRecovery linked in my guides below, and SPRecovery is pretty much reliable for blocking updates. But there's other rom's, etc. that would make it so you don't even get the notice, but . .
Then let us know where you want to go from here.
