The BEST data loss fix in 2 simple steps..

What 305Rev is saying (and what I posted on an earlier thread here) is that the root of the problem seems to be THE NETWORK, not the device. Maybe it's a little worse on the Bionic, and maybe they can improve that, but data drop out problems have been reported with ALL 4G LTE phones. (do a quick search)

Maybe it's an issue that can be fixed with a software update, but it's an update that will be needed for all LTE phones. Thunderbolt users have been waiting for MANY months now - and Droid Charge users, and Revolution users...

So, Shadez, yes there definitely seems to be some merit to the theory. Maybe you could lighten up on the tone just a bit. Aren't we all in this together?

I can't speak for 4g service since it is not available in my home area yet. The problem the bionic is having is it can't even hold its 3g connection which a software update seems to fix. My wife got the thunderbolt when it came out and has never lost her data connection so while I am sure there is an issue with 4g service in general, the bionic's immediate data problem does seem fixable with the update.

Well the tone of his posts came across as he was posing no possibility for a fix, but more of a rather negative comment to the effect that their is no hope at all for a data fix. I agree 100% that I believe it's not the device, but the network. But he was comparing 2 different phones in a Bionic thread. I meant to and should have added to that post that I believe it was the network also, but got called away. And I believe these issues, along with the TB will be resolved. Sorry if it came off as to harsh.

I dont lose data, ever and I'm in a LTE area.
So no, I dont believe it's the network.

Well if your in a LTE area it would only show that it is the towers, and not the hardware. I'm on the edge of a LTE network and I'm intermittent.

Right, it's the switching mechanism in the device itself which needs to be tweaked.... and according to those who have received the 5.6.893 OTA leak it appears as though it has, at least mostly.

You could be correct also..I guess we just will have to see what the OTA does. Until than, all's we can do is speculate.

Before everyone gets to P.O.ed about the data issue, why not wait till then update coming to see if it fixes the problem. Also more phones than the Bionic are suffering form the same issues, I wonder if its a network problem rather than a Motorola problem.

Easy for you to say. How about you turn off your data and wait until MOTO/VZW releases an update? See how that works for you...

I know people who have the data issue with their Bionic and it would piss the hell out of me

The BEST data loss fix in 2 simple steps:

1. Have patience
2. Apply the OTA update when it becomes available.
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!!!

ok, thats 4 simple steps.. but I simply couldnt resist the extras ;)

Hahaha! I "charged my bionic to my acct" think vzw had patience when my bill was due?? Like 13 days to be exact :-)
And the TOS do NOT void a lawsuit, they just make it more difficult, class action is a different ballgame (and I AM an atty). Not to mention the fact that Motorola is releasing updates "in good faith"?? That simply means they acknowledge the issue. I dont care if I get $4 and the lawyers get 3million, vzw with will think twice before releasing a "betaphone" again

I have been running the leak for the last 24 hours and haven't lost my connection once. Too early to say if its completely fixed but the difference is night and day so far

Good news.

Installed 5.5.893 last night

This morning I unplugged at 7:30 when I got to work. Left the phone on 4g with normal modes set. At 8:30 started streaming Slacker while working. Stopped at 11:00 for lunch. Watched a 30 min episode on Netflix during lunch. Started streaming again at 12:00 till 4:30 when I pulled into the drive. Had 60% battery left, never once lost data connection.

The camera is SWEET now, takes pics as fast as I can hit the button. Lock screen and home screens no longer have a delay in them.

Finally, my Bionic is just the way I was hoping.
