The camera sucks

damnit lol i hate my Storm though :(

Hopefully this is a focus issue. The lack of detail in the Droid pics could definitely have something to do with not focusing right. Maybe in addition to that, they'll fine tune some of the processing or whatever that is done in the software. Dec 11 feels so far away lol

Fixing focus and white balance should be very easy as thats all software.

Keep in mind when you are considering low light conditions if you have your phone brightness set to "auto" on the brightness it will cause the picture to look dark "both" on viewing before taking the picture as well as after taking the picture...... whereas if you put that same pic in a computer it will look much better.

My point is... if you take "auto" off and put it on full brightness, the pics will look better.

Thats not a fix, just a point to be made.

yeah the pics totally suck for a 5mp cam. my storm 3.2 ROCKED!!!!
going from that to this pos is a real disappointment. the people who never had such a nice camera on their phone would never know how bad it really is. why is it so grainy??????
and why does it take so damn long to boot up and for it to take the next pic? kinda crapy. the iphone takes pics every second one right after the other.

I agree on the poor quality of the camera. I hope they come in and save the day. I love everything else about the Droid.

I took this last night at a diner in town. Flickr resizes it down to 1024x768 but that is the only modification done, no photoshopping or anything. I'm happy with it considering it was at night with bright lights. I can't remember if it was red corners or green but it looks fine either way.

Lol no idea, I just stood there, pointed, and shot. Didn't change any settings, they were all on auto, might not have even had green corners, i can't remember.

It doesn't look bad when the photo is re-sized.. however the original photo is 2592x1936 and viewing at that res it looks pretty bad..

+1

I'm embarassed to say this, but most of my camera phone pictures are meant to be viewed on Facebook or similar social networking sites, so they'll be automatically resized that way anyway. I'm not planning on taking any desktop wallpaper pictures with my camera phone any time soon. ;)

Does any of your phones make a clicking sounds when you first start the camera? I'm not talking about when you're focusing....just when you first start it up.
