[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

I've been on roboto for a couple days now. It's a good thing!

Not entirely familiar with that process, sir. Is the new market different enough to make it worth the effort?

Definitely not. I don't even really see a difference. Maybe some background fixes? I noticed before that apps would still want to update after I already installed an update. Maybe stuff like that got fixed, but other than that I haven't seen any major differences.

EDIT: In fact, none of them are really all that different from what I can tell. I haven't tried Maps/Street View yet, but the others aren't really all that different. A couple minor layout changes in G+, but nothing huge. I never used Google music enough before to notice if there was a difference, but it looks pretty much the same to me.

Yes with the nightlies do I need to wipe anything or just go into rom manager and install ?

Make sure you have a backup...You can use Rom manager...but I use manual in clockwork recovery...Wipe dalvick and cache in manual recovery and mount system..or RManager, wipe dalvick and backup just incase an issue rarely but possibly occurs..

Upon investigating...I like the old nexus s too..Open source as well and it WILL be getting ICS...hmmmm...the specs aren't too different either...I may take the tmobile employee plan and get that one at a steel because of its age..Then again..I really like the prime...just has only 5mp camera...

It may be "only" 5mp, but it's got the immediate shutter, which is nice. You need to remember that there's a lot more to a camera than the mp, the lens and the shutter, and the light sensor, and a whole lot of other things make a big difference in the quality of the shot as well. The camera in the Galaxy Nexus is really nice, despite being "only" 5mp.

EDIT: For the record, I'm a hardware guy (I went to school for Computer Engineering Technology, and hardware is my passion) and I had a roommate in college who was a photography major, so I know a WHOLE lot about computer hardware, and a decent amount cameras/photography and its hardware. So I'm not just pulling this stuff out of nowhere :)

Undecided at this point. The announcement didn't seal the deal for me. I feel the specs are not what they should have been and actually pretty pedestrian for a phone that should be a flagship device. So I'm still on the fence.

You say open source, I'm assuming because of the rumored, we still don't know for sure, unlocked bootloader.

With the rumors of unlockable bootloaders on both the Razr and the Vigor what would be different?

No prroblems agreeing with that...But I'm only given till december for early upgrade...hmmmmm....I think I'm still with google, but the razor looks just like a dx but faster and dual core with better screen...so idk...

Finally got around to putting CM7 on my Droid 2. For some reason I absolutely had to use v6 of Pete's Motorola Root Tools 64bit to get it done. Glad its over and done. I can't find anything on the latest official version that is a bug. I am thoroughly impressed with this Rom. Only problem I had was a problem I created restoring app data with Titanium. Discovered problem early and reflashed it, no problem.
