[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

I was just about to say, I didn't here from you in a bit and figured uh oh...lol Anyway, I really like boot manager and all, but I would rather just flash I think...It will stay for now. To see how it works with a class 4 or higher card....idk...Its real handy, but after a few days. I don't use it much and is a pain to add to the slots rom..

Tapped and Told!
Peace!

I'm still new to this droid forums, but I want to root my phone to CM7. But I still have a 'warranty' on my phone. I've been through at least 5 D2/D2G's because of issues that I've had. The most recent that I have, include Notification system will glitch and not let me drag it down. For example, say i would get a txt message; I will try and touch and drag down the notification status bar but nothing will happen. Instead I get prompted to Add a widget/App do the home screen. In addition to this, I have been having keyboard problems. The keyboard will freeze, and most times a battery pull is required. Another one is that the phone will not unlock even when I try and touch the screen to unlock it. Every time I get a new phone, an issue like this occurs. I've tried hardware resets, formatting SD cards, and doing all the updates. I'm currently running 2.3.3 with system version 4.5.608.A956.Verizon.en.Us. I was wondering if once i rooted my phone if all these problems would stop.

Mike

That sounds like a hardware issue to me. Sounds like it's an issue with your touch screen. I would take it back to Verizon, and take advantage of that 'warranty' of yours before rooting it.

Sorry Jake, I think my phone just hates your mods. I flashed the Jakebits mods on my phone and the already poor battery life got even worse. Thing is I may have noticed a small increase in the general speediness of everything, but its minor, especially considering the batter hit I take. Second time Ive tried them too. Had battery issues the last time and that time it actually made my phone slower. So Im reflashing the base 5th nightly now.

Overclocked to 1.25GHz and undervolted, I got over 6 hours on the stock battery which pretty good considering

Did you do anything with the undervolting options? As soon as I turned on undervolt, my battery life got a lot better.

Hey dudes! Check out the cm7 market and find the new mixer themes..different ones with slight changes and vitreous right here..my screeny...I just looked and I now have 237 themes..lol

Btw..that's puddle drops on a no background pure black..gives a silver water effect on black, and sorry it was still loading sd speed and all that...lol

Yeah I did, undervolt with stock speeds, didnt help. It never has though either even when I used other applications to undervolt.

If you use multiple apps to control voltage or CPU speed (or in this case an app and Jakesmod) they may interfere with each other, causing unexpected results. I found that out the hard way after talking to one of the app developers. I thought that the app was misbehaving, but it turned out to be caused by a different app.

I know it still may be an issue, because everyone has seen different things with battery life, but I'm just trying to try to pin-point your issue. Every phone is slightly different, and needs a different configuration. I recently found the configuration that seems to work best for my phone, but it took months of playing around with different things to get the best balance of performance and battery life.

Dont know, maybe it wasn't the Jakes mods, battery life still seems pretty bad. It was bad before, but its worse still since the 30th update. I running the 5th nightly now and there isn't much difference. Also I noticed it drops faster the lower it gets. For example, I was using the phone the other night. I stated at 40 percent. it then dropped from 40 to 20. Then from 20 to 15, then to 5. Id say all within an hour.

Yeah I've noticed that myself as well. I go from 100 down to 40 or 50 in like 8 hours, maybe more sometimes. (It used to be about 6 hours or so before I got my current configuration worked out.) Then it goes from 50 down to 5 in roughly 2-3 hours. But I can usually stay at 5% for a LONG time too. (Not that I want to, but I have done it a few times when I'm without a charger.)

Usually my phone lasts about 12 hours without a charge. Which means, on my practice days, my phone will be dead before I get home if I don't charge it at work or practice. Wednesday was my first practice day with my latest configuration though, and I still had 30% left at 9pm after pulling it off the charger at roughly 7am. I don't know if that will be typical with my latest changes or not though. (I couldn't gauge anything yesterday, I was driving with Slacker and GPS on almost all day, so I had it plugged into my car charger most of the day.)

Woah! Has anyone checked this out yet!?

Miui Ics Test 1.11.9 - RootzWiki

I might install it with Boot Manager later and check it out.

EDIT: DOH! - "Bootmanager doesnt have any reports of it working... its boot looping with it for some reason."

known bugs: (stuff others have posted)
haptic feedback is weak
volume buttons don't work
Power and Vol down makes sound like taking screen shot, but no screen shots on SD card.
