The Disappointment Thread

Yeah, these are all valid concerns, but everything I've read says the screen is simply gorgeous. I can't wait to see it in person, but if it looks anything like the X2/D3/Bionic screen I will have to pass. It'll break my heart, but I can't live with a screen like that.

It should look better than those b/c it's Super AMOLED or whatever, the screen is different than the x3/d3/bionic... but the sub-pixels could cause similar issues, but it still should look better.

Still learning about screen technology...

Absolute deal breaker just like the Bionic was if it looks even close. There is no way I will order this before seeing it in person now.

From the video that i saw with the introduction of ICS and the Galaxy Nexus they stated that ICS was made of Nexus or Nexus was made for ICS. With that in mind the nexus will be super smooth and should work perfectly with ICS although they did have a few glitches in the presentation that doesn't make me happy. If you have an older droid like the bionic or are planning to get the razr or any other droid that already came out don't expect it to be that great in my opinion. You'll probably have a lot of bugs and other problems just like the different apps you can download from the droid market that doesn't work with all droids. Once again it's just my opinion but i hope it proves me wrong. The phone didn't really disappoint me. I just need to see it in person and find out what the normal battery life of it is when it is running on apps daily. I hope it's not crap or I'm going to jump ship.

"To wrap it up we'd say that the fears about PenTile appear hugely overblown when it comes to the new HD Super AMOLED technology, which delivers higher pixel density."

Great article about the whole PenTile issue. Looks like the new HD Super AMOLED display is a better performer then the SGSII display. The pixel density on the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note can not be beat by any current Android phone. The iPhone 4/S is still the kind of the pixel war; however, it is on a tiny 3.5" screen.

If you are interested in more than just the complaining of a few posters and want an in-depth (at least more than most) explanation about the different screens, see the article below.

Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus sport HD Super AMOLED - is the PenTile matrix bad for you?

I wouldn't say that I am disappointed I expected more though.

but I am also coming from a thunderbolt so as long as the phone doesn't contain a mechanical arm that repeatedly punches me in the nuts it cannot be worse than the thunderbolt.

Well, I read on engadget a second ago, the prime won't have the super amoled plus like the galaxy s 2...but that means that, they have the difference between the two, I just don't want to type out the whole thing...lol But there is a big enough difference to notice I guess....I don't care...I just want a Pure Google Experience..even the nexus S is appealing to me...if I have to, I will get it, and save with tmobiles sorry service just to have my loving open source without hacking the bootloader....lmao

My eyes must be old and broken. Of course I see a difference when looking at other displays but I cant find these horrible things they say about this screen on my DX2 unless I jack up the brightness and use it in a way I never will.

I agree when it comes to screens, personally, If it looks a decent as my D2 I'm happy with that...so, it will only get better for me...lol

There is a difference. SGSII has the Super AMOLED Plus and the Nexus and Note have the HD Super AMOLED. If you read the article I posted it very clearly and easily explains the differences.

I dont want so persuade anyone here but rather just express my opinion.

I bought the OGDroid 2 years ago this coming january and have loved that phone to death. I want to bring up a point about the iPhone first, though.

I had always dreamed of a phone that I could surf, chat, text, basically anything with. I never had the opportunity to get an iPhone, although all my friends had them when they cam out. I wanted one but knew that it was the first of its kind, and like anything being its first, it was lacking a few things. Fast forward to present time a mere 5 years later.

We now have Android and its recent update (GB, speaking specifically about phones for now). What makes this interesting is that its like the little brother to iOS. iOS CHANGED the game COMPLETELY. The freedom to operate like a computer with a workable UI was also captured in Android and I remember getting the update as I walked out of the store with my OG (2.0 or 2.1) I dont remember. What Im saying is that after getting a later start, Android its self has come leaps and bounds just as iOS has. We no longer need ROMS for the things that we once did on the OG. Android ICS has absorbed most of the very best things that ROMS offer. I HATED my D2G I received as an insurance replacement for my OG and was down on android because stock OS wasnt smooth. It was clunky. It did not look nice. I had forgotten the stock design rough and buggy IMO. I got the GB update and I LOVE IT NOW! the OS update completely changed my opinion about my phone! I am just trying to illustrate that coming from flashing ROMS every week to owning an locked bootloader D2G that Android has really com far. These new features in ICS may have been around for a while but that is not the point. The point is that these features are integrated in a working SMOOTH OS. They are all part of a working OS now. That is what is amazing. I say finally we have a product that is a rival to iOS that is consistent, unique, and standalone (no longer comparing it to iOS wishing for a better product).

Hardware features of this phone specifically may be a dissapointment for some but I see it as an opportunity for others. I discovered an app that is called Audiogalaxy after sifting through many many apps including (^3) (cubed), defualt music player, WinAmp, bPlayer, Google Music, and many many more. The reason I am interested in talking about this app is that is succeeded in bringing me a reliable player, plenty of controls, and the new feature to stream and not require local storage which was a pain trying to sync every time. Google Music is now comparable but the idea is that Cloud storage is getting better and better each day. I used to agree that a removable SD card was way better than iPhone lack of removable media. But with cloud storage and streaming becoming such a reliable work of art, do we really need to store 1000's-10000's of songs on our phones? NO. Manage one CLOUD library with a company you prefer and I guarantee that you will be uncomfortable transitioning back to locally stored media management. Some may complain about the movies they cannot carry with them. I say just hold on a few months longer. It is illogical that music will be cloud based and your movies wont be. Just give it time. Who knows, maybe Google already has ditched the default android player and required use of their Google Music player. Another step in integrating an app feature into the OS.

The step that ICS has taken is a necessary step to centralize all the cool features of the 100's of apps we all love. This ios necessary because if the OS itself is nothing special and the programs are what make the experience unique then many will be frustrated an abandon the OS in favor of a more friendly ad feature-based OS (iOS). This phone will change the path for Android will definitely benefit every Android user because it is simply the first phone to run ICS. Dont worry about incorporating custom features into the OS. Thats a benefit for every new user to experience. I for one will still be getting this phone but not for the reasons once thought. I think this phone will have an unlocked bootloader (I AM ASSUMING! DO NOT TAKE MY GUESS AS FACT! I honestly have no idea if it has been confirmed or not) and not because it is a hardware beast. I think this phone is the most future proof and simply dont want to wait to run ICS on the RAZR.

Very long post and I apologize but custom features now found in the OS are a good thing, cloud based strorage makes file management easier and eliminates the need for removable media, and with LTE streaming HD video from cloud storage will soon arrive. Dont Worry.

My biggest disappointment is that I do not have this phone in my hands right now.

Agreed...When will it get here already? Lol this phone is definately one to buy as if problems come about, google will be all over it...Unlike the motorola waiting game...lol But hey, I love Motorola, and always have....
