The "New" New Phone Rumor Mill

Unfortunatley i think your right but in the wrong direction for us kinda. I think the verizon phone is the lessor specs and will be released nov 3 as many suggest/say. the other carriers will receive the much better speced phone in january. partially due to a short exclusive but mainly that teh higher speced device can not be ready in novemeber.
If its just an underclocked 4460 even without an sdcard slot it should be a decent device. if its the same processor as the bionic as some suggest upclocked to 1.2 than verizon again dropped the ball. maybe not their fault if parts arent ready. but at lest they didnt put all their eggs in 1 basket this time like they did with the bionic when it was delayed they had nothing . if this turns out to be a dud at least their is the rezound and razr about. But if it turns out to be a pure icecream device with unlocked bootloader it will be hard to pass up, but no sdcard slot and an older processor will definatley make me look harder at what else is around.

Dude, the Nexus is always a pure vanilla unlocked experience. It is a developer phone afterall. If it were locked down and bloated it would be called a Droid!

Yes i understand this. but it has always been. you underestimate verizons ability to screw things up. Of course we are hoping they dont screw this up but until verizon doesnt screw its customers i have little faith since that has been their pattern over the last year.

I'm with you on this :-)

Wait, my phone is from Verizon and isn't locked down. And I call it a Droid.

So is mine. The OG... anyway I was as sceptical as anyone, yet it will be called a Nexus so I can't see what Big red would do with that.

In what way has VZW stuck it to its customers? You mean taking away our unlimited data? Do you mean charging an arm and a leg for LTE? Did you mean no new Androids because all they are pushing is the IPhone?

You are missing the point. Nexus is Google's phone. They put Android's reputation behind their Nexus phones. They will not allow Verizon to screw this up. If Verizon wants to put their junk on this phone, Google will not let them call it a Nexus in any shape or form. That's why we've never seen a Nexus on Verizon. Verizon wants to make their money. Google wants to keep it pure. Not really a match made in heaven.

Until I truly see something official from either Google, Samsung or Verizon, I won't believe Verizon is getting a Nexus. Not their style. Droid Prime more likely...unfortunately. But, I'm hoping Verizon surprises and delivers what most of us here have wanted for loooong time. Tomorrow night is going to be big.

Now Now.... this isn't going to turn into a tethering debate thread!

Anyway, it's been a long weekend involving the most vicious of viruses I have ever witness and/or been victim to(watching to spread person to person over the course of three days - I now fully understand how quickly the Zombie Apocalypse can/will occur) but now I am somewhat back... looks like a have a few links to add to the top posts.

Not sure if it was the flu... everyone that had it this weekend (10 people that I know of) was back on their feet within 18-24 hours, but during those 18-24 hours we were hoping for an early death.

As for the bionic... it is still in the box. After the big news day tomorrow with the Razr and Nexus I will either fire it up or setup an eBay auction or see if I can hock it to someone on my Facebook.

From a Reddit post about the Nexus (it offers a summary... link to the thread at Android Central is included as well):

"Basically this is a summary from this thread: galaxy nexus hand time - Android Forums

Someone got their hands on one for a bit and it WILL be the phone we have all hoped it would be:
LED notification? Yes.
Removable battery? Yes, according to the OP, 1900mah. Says he is still slightly unsure since it was the last thing he looked at.
Dual LED Flash? Yes.
8MP camera? Yes.
Thin? As in thinner or around the thickness of the latest iPhone? Yes.
Dual Core? Yes, 1.5Ghz TI OMAP
Weight wise? Very light.
SD Card slot? No idea, says he didn't look/find one.
New LTE modem inside? Yes. Said he got 25/10 during a test.
Apparently this thing has a touch sensitive bezel that allows you to make the software based ICS buttons disappear and reappear. The touch sensitive bezel is where the physical buttons would normally be.
He explains that the 720P screen is extremely vivid, unlike anything he's ever seen before more so than the retina of the Iphone.
Found that it had a Chrome like web browser on it which makes sense given that ICS is suppose to incorporate Chrome as it's new browser.
ICS is extremely snappy according to the poster. iPhone snappy. Probably due to better CPU optimization with ICS and Hardware Acceleration (finally!).
He also describes the feel of the phone as being unlike any plastic he has ever touched form Samsung. It's Plastic...but it feels "futuristic." That's the word he used. Some kind of new plastic or something. He said it feels high quality and not cheap. He mentions that metal as been put in to the phone for added support/stabilization.
Anyways check out the thread if you'd like. I just took what was in there and threw it up on here as a summary of sorts."
