The "New" New Phone Rumor Mill

The HTC Zeta is ugly, but it's beautiful on the inside (2.5ghz quad-core). How much ram is this going to contain?

the article said 1GB ram...somehow i cant quite believe the article on this phone...so were jumping from about 1.5ghz dual core all the way to 2.5 quad core, even though the other upcoming htc phone, the htc edge is still only 1.5 quad core??? and only 1 gb ram? shouldnt it be more like 1.2 or 1.5 gb ram to really be able to use the 2.5 ghz quad core?? and the article says it'll ship with ice cream sandwich but it still has soft buttons built in?? things just dont seem to add up right here...

just let the nexus boys live.... they'll think they have the best phone for a few months then quad core comes out and blows it away.... the bionic does all I need it to do and more.. runs flawlessly... can't wait for ICS to bless it

Aha, but software never goes out of date! We'll all be sitting around eating Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie, laughing at you all who are still eating Gingerbread, and a few favored ones who may have been blessed with an Ice Cream Sandwich! ;) We get it all first!

I think this needs to get back on track so that 80 pages of phone gossip goodness aren't turned into my (insert phone) is better than your (insert phone).

Also, just noticed the Zeta has cap-buttons on it. So either this is a really old render or HTC isn't down with the buttonless movement. I still don't think this phone is completely legit. The camera lens is SCREAMING "scratch me!"

the next newer phone or the next newer nexus will have the update first ;) ... I heard the old nexus wont even get ics.. that's pretty lame... fyi I don't mind the nexus owners/developers being test dummies lol

The nexus will be the only other vanilla android phone and real easy to develop phone on Verizon besides the original Droid and will most likely have far more developers working on it than any other phone so it will almost be like the original Droid reborn and just look at how far developers have taken that...also don't forget the nexus was developed and optimized to work specifically with ics whereas phones such as the bionic and razr were not...basically the nexus will perform better with ics than any current phone can

I'm down with being a test dummy long as I get updated first. Different people want different things and that's great.

So I'm starting to think HTC isn't down with the buttonless movement either and that's most unfortunate considering I like the no button thing. I wonder if holding the home button down will activate the new recent apps view.

Exactly, People are hung up up on specs. The Nexus is all about ICS, not specs (other than no shutter lag on camera). Why get a phone that was designed for the previous os, then wait for ICS to be shoehorned onto it (with crappy overlay interface in tow) when you can wait an extra week or two and get the phone made for that os in it's simple vanilla form just as intended?

On the topic of this new potential phone, really people think its ugly? Yeah different for sure, but that is refreshing HTC has become boring phone design wise, and I'm most surprised no one is commenting about the nearly bezleless design. That is the most surprising thing about this render...

That was just some guy flaming the Nexus threads trying to get a reaction out of everyone. Sure there are those who think it's ugly, but from what I've read here and other forums, the overwhelming majority think this is the sexiest device Verizon's ever had (or about to have....I guess....). This is the first Android phone on Verizon without any labeling on the front. No Samsung logo and most importantly, no ugly Verizon logo. I think once people see this phone in person and get to hold it, it's going to change a lot of people's opinions. Just my two cents.

I think you would be suprised at how nice the RAZR and Rezound are. I went to Best Buy and played with both. I ended up purchasing a RAZR that I will compare with the Nexus when it comes out and decide which to keep. The RAZR has the best feel of any smart phone I have ever held. Both build quality and size-wise. This isn't saying I wont trade it in for the Nexus... I probably will... but I can definitely see someone preferring the RAZR. But I want a Nexus. And I want ICS now!!

And about the new HTC phone... I am very impressed with the bezel of the phone. Having it go to the sharp corners is stupid (imho), but having next to no bezel is awesome. The only think I can't look beyond is the beer gut and the camera lens. I doubt the lens placed like that would make production after the heat the Incredible took, but even to have it on a render is scary. All in all, this phone is probably not real... but that is what this thread it for. Learn as we go!

Everyone (including myself) thinking this phone is moderately unattractive reminded me of when there was a leak of the Verzo 'Kinzo' in the news section back in late august/early September and the general consensus was "wow, a new player in the game" and "that's a pretty sharp device" but when it was officially announced last week it was hailed as hideous... and it looked exactly the same as the first leak. Oh how fickle the masses can be :-)

Wow...nexus fanboy showing true colors....I didn't want to get into it but whatevs. I just stated my personal opinion and ut may be that the nexus has a slight edge in hardware but for most purposes it will be negligible. As far as software goes once again u r right but w roms currently available to me and ics not too far away I think ill be ok...my next phone will have to really be cutting edge and next gen lte fits the bill. I don't mind paying retail for a nexus but I just don't see the point for myself....I am not in denial just not wowed by it. So enjoy ur nexus and I hope its all u ever dreamed of and more...customers in the end I thought we were all on the same team...right?!

You gotta understand the issue here is deeper than being a fanboy. The issue is simply choice. Motorola doesn't give you a lot of choice and pisses people off. With the Nexus you'll have full control to do whatever you want (roms AND kernels, etc). And if you don't root and rom, you're still getting your updates before anyone else. With the Bionic, Razr and all other Motorola devices sans the OG Droid, you don't get full control. Sure you can run custom roms, but that crappy battery life - sorry you're stuck with it because they won't let you change the kernel. Also, some how manufacturer estimates on software upgrades always seems to take much longer than they initially estimate, so don't necessarily assume ICS is coming when you want it. Anyway, I personally don't have anything against Moto devices. They're great for a lot of people. If it works for you, that's great! Unfortunately, they don't work for me and a lot of others because power users prefer full control.

Yeah, I don't mind the Kinzo look that much, but something about that HTC phone doesn't sit well with me. I'll see if it grows on me...
