**The Official 2011 NFL Season Thread**

Yeah except Matt Cassel under Josh McDaniels in New England lead a Tom Bradyless Patriots team to an 11-5 record and looked pretty good doing it. McDaniels made Cassel a good system QB which he could have continued in Denver. Obviously now hindsight is 20/20.

Completely agree, Cassel is a system QB. I'd take a play-making QB in Cutler every time though.

However, I disagree in Cassel looking good. He had the most shortest-dump-off passes that year. Not too hard dumping off to Welker with Moss going deep.

Cutler hasn't exactly been consistent, he was having his best year this season before he got hurt unfortunately but other than that he was one of the more inconsistent QB's throwing nearly as many INT's as TD's. Obviously Cutler is a much better throwing QB than Tebow, pretty much all QB's are in the NFL but Cutler doesn't play with even 5% of the passion Tebow does.

As far as the Cassel short passes thing, it was true somewhat, but who cares if you are getting first downs and winning. What does it matter if it's 5 yards or 50 yards when the end result is a score?

It's not about drinking the koolaid, worst expression ever created BTW, it's about NFL coaches not being given enough time to put their system in place. Coaches have exactly one year to turn everything around now which is completely unrealistic. Yes some teams can do it but it takes more than 1 season to put a new system into place.

I agree but when you get rid of the top 7 talent on the team and tell your boss well be fine without them and win 4 games it doesnt bode well for longevity. as i statd in an earlier post mcdaniels came in with a huge head on his shoulders and it crushed him. he hasnt shown he can do anything without billicheck. but i hear shanahan came into oakland similarly after a few more years he came back as a much better coach. but he took a team on the verge and added to it to win it all. he didnt trade away the top 7 players and try to totally build a team as if it was an expansion team. something fox has succeeded at which is why he was brought in . shanahan may not be able to do thta time will tell but havent seen anything in washington as of yet that he can pull off what fox did here this year. tebow was put in due to fan pressure with orton going 1-4 while i hope tebow does well i still havent seen enough to say hes the long term guy. but with the improvement of the defense and additions next year he may be a perfect fit for foxes style of football.

i believe mcdaniels would have been given another year except when he had a piss poor record after trading away all the talent he did. than got in a screaming match with bailey and dj williams in the am he was fired that afternoon. possible they went to bowlen and said im out of here????

Don't know, the players were against the McDaniels hiring from the beginning so perhaps he was doomed before he even started. Denver just wasn't the right place for him or maybe he just isn't cut out to be a head coach in the NFL.

Like I said before, I just hope the Pats take care of business so we can stop talking about the Broncos.

hey its been a long time since the broncos were anything to talk about :)
way surpassesed any expectations i had of them this year.

fox for coach of the year by a land slide!!!

i heard that the broncos were already starting 15 yards back on opening kick off apparently someone walked past brady and said hello within 5 feet of him and a flag was thrown for roughing the qb :)

haha oh c'mon you have to atleast be within a half yard of him to whisper sweet nothings into his ear. I can admit Brady gets some calls he shouldn't. No different than the NBA stars getting calls they shouldn't.

Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall all but demanded their way out of Denver. No one could have seen what Hillis would turn into, although I would argue Hillis is a giant baby who refused to play this year because he had one good season and thought he should get paid more. 2 of the 5 starters on the o-line were McDaniels draft picks, Decker, Thomas and Tebow all Mcdaniels draft picks.

Cutler demanded a trade only after finding out McDaniels was trying to trade him. Marshall wanted out because he couldn't get along with McDaniels. Decker is a stud. Thomas hasn't done much during the season, but has been fabulous during the post season. Tim Tebow, I love the guy, he's winning.

That said, McDaniels did everything short of completely driving the Broncos into the ground.

Josh McDaniels is a clown.

Wow 49ers looking good.

To be or not to be........................wait what was the question? This signature has been Tapatalk approved.

I completely missed the first half and 3/4 of the 3rd quarter. Man it was 17-0 when I first checked earlier and now it's 20-14. This must've been a great game to watch.:frown:

The Saints have five TO's, and it's still a close game. Honestly, the 49'ers offense hasn't played all that well.

Just saw that couple minutes ago. 5 TO and it's still this close of a game is really surprising.

Gore with the huge run....

I don't care much for either team, but I'm kind of hoping the 49'ers pull it off with this QB they call, "Alex Smith." He's still really a nobody, and I'm glad he's proving people wrong.

That's how SF has played all year, but Brees 2 quick TDs messed it up. SF usually kicks more FGs than scores TDs.
