The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

There is no one who can help you, me, or us, really. No matter who you contact, they'll defer to a higher up who will either defer to another higher up, or who will know their higher up's response already: we're sorry for the way you feel, however, Verizon has announced nothing. Verizon may not be able to control some leaks some of the time, but they are pretty tight-lipped on this one.

I've spoken with plenty of people at Verizon who I know and who have been quite liberal with me in the past in terms of sharing sensitive information and all of these people assure me they aren't witholding anything - they're in the dark, too. It's just how it is this time. We'll know something more soon.

If you feel that the pen is mightier than the sword, go ahead and e-mail one of the above listed Verizon execs, however, your e-mail is probably being blatantly disregarded by each exec's team of people who help them manage their e-mail accounts.

So on ur thoughts, do u see this thing releasing this week? Ur honest opinion...

Since the Nexus looks like it will never come out before the end of the year I must say for you people "renting" phones, id be getting awful worried that renting may turn into owning lol.

Always a possibility ...lol and by the way, love the "renting" term.. I will admit I'm leasing with the option to buy..lmao!

Quite Sharp indeed....
Motorola Droid Razor...
Peace!

Now that Friday isn't looking good, and this thread will turn into filler again, everybody should unsubscribe and go spend time with your family, your dog, your job (?!?), whatever... something more worthwhile than this thread... It's the holidays after all! :D

It's sad but my production level at work has increased 200% since this morning..

Well, when you see the massive amount of stock Verizon has in their inventory rooms for this phone, your brain goes crazy trying to rationalize just why so many phones are being kept under lock and key, READY to be released, but are just sitting there. They are in their boxes, and are at corp. stores nationwide. They will NOT get any more OS updates at this point until customers first activate them. So it's not anything to do with the software the phones have flashed on them already. It has to be something else.

I mean - I'm home now, but I spent the good part of the day earlier today at one of the VZW stores in my area and I had a few peeks into the inventory room (with permission from the SM, of course) and I just cannot think of any reason why this phone isn't out. The stock is there. The reps are trained. The management teams are aware of the launch and are ready. Every rep who has played with the phone this week wants to buy it. People are chomping at the bit. In a matter of a week this phone went from only the nerdy crowd knowing about it to customers and employees alike going on and on about how they want the phone. Plus, the accessories have been in many stores for WEEKS - so we're not waiting on those, either.

I spent about an hour on the sales floor playing with a few different devices (the RAZR is ugly lol - like the Rezound though :)) and I was listening to some customers. There were 3 customers asking about the Nexus specifically, and I can't even count the reps I heard tell customers there will be a "big new phone coming out soon" (these were customers who weren't eligible to upgrade just yet).

So, having seen the amount of stock at this corporate store and having played with their store demo unit for several hours (it's coming home tonight - I get to play with it all night, woohoo!), I really have NO IDEA what the heck is going on.

Your guess is as good as mine. My guess is something sales-related (VZW has had weak sales this month and last as a company), or something network related. I don't know anything I haven't shared.

Ok, so this may have just been a generic response, but I just received the following from NEAreaExecutiveRelations@verizonwireless.com to my gmail account:

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for contacting the office of Mike Maiorana regarding your concern. Kindly respond with your Verizon Wireless account/mobile number so that we may have a member of our staff address your concern. In addition, please specify a good daytime contact number.

Thank you.

Sorry if this was posted already but we may actually not even get the Galaxy Nexus of Verizon..like for real. If they cannot agree to add Wallet, then it won't happen. This is an absolute nightmare. If this phone never came to us after all this waiting and hoping, I don't even know what I would do. I don't want any of the other phones right now at all.

So does this mean that they will eventually kill the Netflix app too?

Speculation is that something happened to the LTE network yesterday afternoon that caused all this mess. But I am still not 100% convinced that we will not see some stores selling it Friday.

i called 611 to verify i had an early upgrade available. it was confirmed i did...i asked about the Nexus and she told me it is in their system and ready to go this friday. she said she would be more than happy to place an order for me first thing on Friday. i approved the additional $15.99 for Saturday shipping and she stated i would receive the phone through Fedex. I asked if there were any delays and she stated none that she could see. After catching up on this thread can i assume no phone for me?

I did the same thing this morning and the rep did in fact tell me the info page had the launch date as "Coming Soon" and she tried to place an order for it and it wouldn't go through.

I just don't understand what the LTE network has to do with the phone itself? It's happening with a mass amount of phones.. so won't the fix be over the air? I can live with a 3G Nexus for a little bit.

yea the same thing happened to me...she said it would not let her place the order until Friday. She was very sure it was this friday but she may not be up to date. Well i guess i will find out friday cause i requested a confirmation email, call and text that the order was placed...figured i would cover all bases.

Maybe it is based solely on that the network is down right now and they want to avoid the same major headaches they had when the released the bionic and a vast number of people could not activate their device due to connection issues and an over loaded network??
