The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

I read something on another site about Verizon being in some kind of Federal Violation of a past case. It seems they are not allowed by court settlement to interfere with the manufacturers 'competing process', such as Google Wallet. That's supposed to be the reason it was pulled at the last minute. Whatever the reason was, it has to be BIG! There's way too much money involved in putting this phone on the market, too much from Samsung, too much from Google, and too much from Big Red to blow this investment. They WANT this out in time for Christmas, not just for the phones, but for the accessories they will make a killing off of. Remember also, advertising buys are done in advance, and it is costly to postpone them... follow the money!

I am not sure if this is relevant at all but p3droid had to give back his nexus and LTE galaxy pad 10.1 and is not allowed to post about release dates and new hardware anymore. Somebody ignored his NDA...

Tisk, tisk.

so they pulled it because verizon's lte is overrated?

great... i will say my friends with bolt's seem to have 4g outages every month or so for about a day. seems pretty weak to me. but not a good reason to delay it. i'm going with the wallet thing.

either way, was starting to believe the 9th. now i'm full of hate once again. maybe it will be out by xmas

I don't think it's the "standard" 4G issues that is holding this up... they are having crappier than usual 4G problems right now (have been for the last 24-48 hours). Once they get this little issue wrapped up, I think we will see the release of the device.

There's also that little Google wallet thing too, I keep forgetting about that. I hope they resolve that soon.

Here is some info that ties into what you were hearing but hopefully clears it up. Free Press: Verizon May Have Violated Spectrum Rules in Google Negotiation - Sara Jerome - NationalJournal.com and from what it seems to say is VZW may have violated the rules tied to the C-Block of Spectrum (you know the 700Mhz Spectrum Google was going to bid on) and they "may have violated a federal requirement forcing Verizon not to "deny, limit, or restrict the ability of their customers to use the devices and applications of their choice” on its network. The Federal Communications Commission attached the rule to spectrum licenses that Verizon bought in the so-called C block of spectrum three years ago."

So hopefully this delay is more tied to the outage issue and less to do with Google Wallet. As for Apple, I don't see that its pretty clear they lost the injunction to block the import and sale of Samsung phones while they battle it out with Samsung in the US.
