My professor today asked me about phones because he need to get one so I told him about the Nexus coming out Friday. Wish I wouldn't have done that now...

Had this dream that I bought a Nexus and unlocked the bootloader right away. Then the screen turned on and there were dead pixels and the phone wouldn't do anything right. So i brought it back to Verizon, but they wouldn't let me return it. Kept saying that i unlocked it and it was my fault for breaking it. Demanded i pay them 700$ for a new one. Woke up due to the horror of it. Sad sad dream

That would be your own fault for not re-locking it before bringing it back. Way to go, subconscious hinataoccu. :-)

I am not sure if this is relevant at all but p3droid had to give back his nexus and LTE galaxy pad 10.1 and is not allowed to post about release dates and new hardware anymore. Somebody ignored his NDA...

Yeah sorry to hear that /sarcasm
I read both P3's and his lackey for a couple of weeks and quit following them the other day. They behave like teenagers and do nothing but stir the proverbial pot. Most of their tweets are just them showing off due to having the latest devices while providing no real information.

I just read this post (about the Droid 4 and moto's 6 month estimate on ICS rollout) from a member in another part of the forum and I think this is what Verizon is afraid to hear and why we will probably see a near silent launch when it finally does come out:

I've been thinking about this a lot today, and tonight I feel like I've had a change of heart.

When the D4 first leaked, I was ecstatic. No other device was even on my radar. Coming from the OG Droid, I knew that the D4, with its 4G and awesome keyboard and dual core processor, would basically be a more awesome version of the phone I currently own and have been so happy with.

But after reading the Motorola blog post, I was turned off. On some level I already knew this, but it hit me that the Motorola of today is not the Motorola of two years ago that produced a true, vanilla Android device. I don't consider myself a slave to consumerism, and I don't feel the need to own the newest device on the day it's released (I am still using an OG Droid, after all) but 6 months is a long time in the world of consumer technology, and if I'm spending $300 on a new device, receiving major software updates 6 months late and riddled with bloatware is unacceptable.

I've had a Droid for two years, and I had a RAZR for many years before that...but the direction Motorola is taking is not one I feel I can, or should, support. I hope that with the Google merger, Motorola will start making Google Experience Devices again...but until then, I think buying a Motorola Android product is a bad decision.

So...my thoughts are turning towards the Galaxy Nexus. The plastic and absence of a physical keyboard will take some getting used to, but I think it's a better decision at this point.

So apparently, this isn't the first time VZW delayed a launch because of a 4G outage, the delayed the Charge release back in April.....

Wow. They delayed it for several weeks because of one day's outage? So...that puts us on track for the first week of January?

I wonder if Verizon has the same control over dealers at Costco or Best Buy as they do their own stores? Is it at all possible that they can just say "screw that. We ordered the inventory, we got it here, we are selling it!" Not clue how the supply chain works in this situation....
