The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

Verizon charges to activate it right? Why is this? Is it to transfer your contacts... well my phone is broken so there is nothing to transfer. My contacts are saved to google server so I should be able to do this myself. But are they still going to try to charge me to activate it - if so how much?

Also, is it better to buy it at Verizon or Costco? I am eligible for an upgrade from Verizon.. if I get it from Costco, I don't receive the $100 off the price... is this correct?

I guess ole Yoda lit a fire under Verizon's _ _ _. :)

I'm sure I share the same feeling with a lot you here, but I can't even begin to express my relief and happiness toward the launch and end of wait for the Nexus. It's been a very long wait indeed. Anyway, I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning. I took work off, scouted my location, scouted my backup location and am ready to fight anyone who tries to deny me my Nexus.

On a related note - I thought this was a good omen for a launch tomorrow. Look at what arrive in my mailbox today:

What's this I've been hearing about $100 off switching from 3g to 4g? Is this true? And will it apply going from my DX to the GNex

Sent from your mom's house using my Galaxy Nexus... is what my signature would say if they would hurry and release the damn thing!

Promo is only for the mid-West states.

Are you guys just buying it and leaving? Or letting VZW activate it? Don't really want VZW using MY phone, that I've been waiting for, before I get to..

Why wouldn't u want verizon to activate it? What's the big deal? Is there something I should know about?

So I called 611 to try to get some information on the Nexus and the $100 possible upgrade from 3G to 4G. Not sure where "your" call centers are, but mine was out of Minnesota. So, since the $100 upgrade was rumored to be in the Midwest, I thought I had a good shot at it. Unfortunately, I got the same "blah, blah, blah" from my representative on the release date of the Nexus. But he did clarify on the $ upgrade.

The $100 upgrade from 3G to 4G is in the Chicago land area. I live close (Madison,WI) but could not get it. I am, however, eligible for a $30 credit to my next phone. So, I assume that if you are eligible for an upgrade, $30 is better than nothing. Hopefully, I can piggy back that with the Living Social deal. $80 off a $300 phone is not bad. Just thought I would share the information. Not sure if it has been discussed. I'm about 100 pages behind in the forum.:p

I can't even get a new phone for months

but i have been following this thread non stop for weeks, and I am so caught up in it, that I am pumped for all of you. I hope this phone is everything you been waiting for. Have fun tomorrow. Look forward to hearing back from everyone that lands one.dancedroid:icon_ banana::D

I've seen everyone saying that they will be at the store around 8:45, but checking local VZ stores their hours on Wed-Thurs ONLY are 10:00-8:00....is that always the case, or just this week? Seems odd they are 9-9 Mon, Tue, Fri, and Sat.

It's going to be HELL sitting at work from 8-9:45 waiting for the store to open......

Usually when you finish your contract with Verizon and renew it, they give you a $100 rebate card. That's what I am referring to. I want that rebate card.

Gives them an hour to set up for the Nexus and white Razr. Usually it is 9am-9pm Mon.-Sat.

Some people don't want someone else playing with the phone before them. Potentially scratching it I guess? I think it's silly, but to each his own. You have waited months for this phone, wait and extra 30 minutes and walk out with a fully functional Nexus. Then take it home and root the crap out of it :p
