I am not discrediting those supplying the rumors they hear either, there are just so many rumored release dates out there, that at this point it's better for me to just ignore them and wait for the official word.
"I just called a verizon store. ... They confirmed it's the same price and it's available for preorder! ... She said it will be 14 days before phone is released."
That would clearly NOT be the 29th then. 14 days would be December 8/9th. Unless he meant the 29th is when a pre-order starts.

Ok, just got off the phone with Verizon(611) to fix my upgrade date seeing how they never restored it when I returned my Bionic and the rep and I got to talking about the G-Nex. He told me nothing has been updated in their system as far as a pre release date or official release date, he did ask me what the internet had been saying and I told him rumor has it December 8th looks to be the release date and that a third-party retailer had it for pre order for $679 and he said sounds like it's getting close and to check back in a few days. So still nothing official but sounds like things are aligning up with the December 8th release date. I'm calling back Monday to do a little more snooping if you will unless something official pops up before then.

Yes, I've read it's very easy to root the G-Nex even manually. I believe I read there is a one-click program as well for people who are worried about messing up.

i will be waiting to root my galaxy nexus until their is-
1. trusted developers
2. a way to unroot
3. an sbf to root and unroot/unbrick
4. i get bored of stock and miss the benefits of rooting :happy:
as for the benefits-
overclock-maybe in the future, but once i get the phone, i couldnt ask for it to be any faster. the change will be barely noticeable and even though setcpu is optimized for it, i cant trust it works as well for ics like it has with froyo and gb.
underclock-i want to enjoy the speed
picture of screen-ics can already do that
torch-i like this feature, id eventually root for this (if i cant find an app where you dont need root)
development- i would like to wait on this. themes are not enough to make me root my phone.
im going to play it safe and wait for custom development of the phone.

I think by the time we actually get the G-Nex there will be a way to unroot and most likely some development going on. Two weeks is a pretty good amount of time for developers to work their magic. Pete is already doing some things for it, he released his own fastboot for the UK version. MoDaCo has some pretty awesome stuff going on as well. Auto brightness patch was released as well as UI tweaks and mods. I'm rooting the second I get it just because it will get rooted regardless so why wait. That's just me though.
