★ The Official "I got my Droid RAZR Thread" ★

Got ours and we're thrilled!

We've had our Maxx's for a week now. Upgraded from our ancient Moto Droid I's (is this what is referred to as OD's?).

It took a bit of messing and tweaking, but we finally got them working the way we think we want. My biggest complaint was the inability to find the original News and Weather program that came with the original OS. You know, the one you can customize for the REAL news you want... Someone gave me the link to the provider of this nifty app, and now LIFE IS GOOD!

Compared to the "OD", the battery life is incredible. Stuff loads way quicker, runs smoother, and generally brightens my day...

I drive a truck, and my phone is mounted on the dash with a 'clamp'. I used to keep the "OD" plugged in (but not actually charging) so I could start a charge about halfway though my run. Battery would get down to 40% or so, and I'd squeeze the plug into the power recepticle and charge it up. Now, after a week, I don't even put the plug in! I charge it at home, and never have to charge 'til it get home again (though I have the charge cord with me, just in case).

I do quite a bit of talking (cell phones are now the 'long-distance CB's' - ha), a considerable amout of web surfing to check the weather and road conditions, and texts from time to time. Here in Nevada, there is NO 4G once out of Reno going east. I'm lucky of there's any "G" at all... So I'm not sure about drain because of 4G service - I have it turned off, just in case it takes power to look for it.

So, I'd say I'm SO glad I finally upgraded from my old (but still trusty) OD, and wifey is too.

I've kept my OD around to use the home WiFi when I'm charging the Maxx, and use it for other things like mimicking an iPod for music.

The original Droid is called the OG or OG Droid, FYI. Also, it's good to keep 4G off in a non-4G area because the 4G radio will search for service and drain your battery about 1.5x faster than running 3G only (CDMA only).

Enjoy your Maxx!

I got my 16 gb Razr yesterday. It is amazing compared to my OG droid. I could actually watch a video on my home wifi and do a websearch without something crashing

Love this razr maxx. Got mine yesterday. The amazing battery life is what made my decision between the razr maxx and the nexus. Nexus has ICS, but id be regretting my decision when i have to plug the charger in at the afternoon. It's nice to have a peace of mind and not have to worry about if the battery will last.

FINALLY took the plunge and go the razr 16gb during the leap day sale. upgrading from an OG droid. thought heavily about the bionic but after reading so many bad stories ultimately decided razr instead. I am a bit worried about battery life, hopefully its not too much of a problem, although i am used to charging my OG droid on a daily basis. Also thought about the rezound and spectrum, but the moto fanboi in me decided razr. dont let me down moto!

I've had my eye on the RAZR since it was announced and entered the smartphone arena late last year. My wife and I were waiting on our contract with Verizon to finish out and then, sign of signs, my wife's phone just gave up the ghost. Obviously time to upgrade! So...made a beeline for the RAZR at the Verizon store and, although I've only had it about 24 hours, I absolutely love this DROID. Slick, sleek, and beyond cool in every way. And I got the white one which looks fantastic.

Like many others, I've got some concerns about the battery life and how it does, but I already talked with Verizon and if I'm not crazy about it by Wednesday, I can always go and upgrade to the MAXX for the extra juice. Thankfully, I always seem to be someplace where I can plug it in and charge it up if needed, but so far today it's done quite well.

If anything changes, I'll post back with my thoughts...but so far, so good!

Well I just picked up a slightly used Droid RAZR on Ebay to replace my iPhone4. I was a WebOS guy and while I like iOS, i have become somewhat bored with it; thought id give Android a try.

So anyway, the RAZR was delivered at lunch today and so far, i'm VERY impressed. There are some oddities (such as it requiring a restart to quit roaming 2 different times) but the car dock, smart actions, and Motocast have FAR exceeded my expectations. Also the internet radio is surprisingly decent! Smart actions are incredible. I love how by triggering the car dock, I can initiate GPS, Bluetooth, AND send an reply message to folks, letting them know i am driving. This is the type of stuff that I wanted to do on the iPhone, but it would require multiple steps and running multiple apps. Now, we will see about battery life, but so far, its better than my Pre and Pixi were which is enough to get through the day. Its nice to know that if I need more, the MAXX battery is available...

Anyway, I will be lurking and posting when things are relevant from now on! :)

Hello and welcome...congrats on the Razr!!

Jump in & enjoy, ask questions when ya have them!

I bought myself and the wife our first smart phones on Saturday, we bought the Droid Razr, so far I love it. It is nice to have the world at my fingertips and being able to look up whatever I want. I live in a 3G city and work in a 4G city, should I just turn off the 4G when I am at home to extend battery life?

Congrats to you too. Bought the wife and me RAZRs in November/December and we also love them. To conserver battery at home you could cut 4G off, but to really save, turn WIFI on at home and you'll not only get the longer battery life, but you'll also get a bump in download speeds! If you don't have a wireless router, consider investing in one. You'll be glad you did. :)
