The Ultimate Droid 1.0.0 - Droid 1 Only

I'm trying to apply the red Droid X red shatter bootanimation but am having trouble getting it to work. I've tried placing the file in both the data/local and system/media Giles..no luck. Suggestions?

Before it will work, you will have to first install one of the built-in bootanimations within UD Extras. Multiple Packages will install a Bootanimation along with the command line the system needs to see. Then after that, just replace the bootanimation you installed in UD Extras with the Bootanimation of your choice.

Of course, if you selected the option to ENTIRELY REMOVE boot animations from within UD's options, from my experience, you will have to re-install the ROM to get it working again.

I am suddenly having some issues with UD, the phone is being very unresponsive..touch and data are all extremely slow suddenly. Also, a lot of the apps I try to install or update, I get an install unsuccsesful notification. Is anyone else experienceing this? UD was running great on my phone until a few days ago, I have not done anything major at all within the last few days. Thanks

GRIMLINS ! You may try a reboot to get rid of them or if you have a good nandroid backup, restore it other than that.....Grimlins.
The market has been acting funny on mine also lately, but that just may be the market
Nothing major ......any new apps installed ??????
Another thought....did you go to the UD setting and try the 'Speed up Market' ??? Settings>Ultimate Droid>quick commands>Speed up Market...or maybe 'Clear the Delvik-Cache'.
Trouble is always where you find it.

If things get really sluggish I boot into recovery and clear the cache. What apps in particular are failing to update? I know off hand of a few like the new Youtube and Car Home can be uninstalled using Titanium Backup or Root Explorer then installed from the market. The are installed as system apps and can't be updated via the market without doing that.

Here's a list of my suggestions:

1. Uninstall any task killer you may have,
2. Uninstall any anti-virus program you may have,
3. Get one of the Cache clearing apps from the market. I use Cache Mate and hit it once per day or so. More like once every two days I guess.
4. On the market, there have a been a number times recently when it was slow for everyone and within the past few days there were instances where many, many people had failed installs. However, even with all that in mind, when I have problems with the market the first thing I do is to go into manage apps and clear the market's data and cache. Seems to help a lot with numerous issues.
5. As a last resort, do a factory hard reset.

That's all I can thinks of right now.

Good luck and keep us posted so we know if any of this helps.

bayou fly fisher, thanks, I will try all that now.

As for the apps that are not updating or installing:
Traffic stats
Car Home(Beta)
Beautiful Widgets
Airmail Control Panel
ADW Launcher
TIBU
Adobe Air

Some of them I understand are system apps with the Rom, but most of them are not..if I uninstall the system you tube app, I will be able to download the new standalone youtube app just fine?

Yes on the youtube app question. Well, that is if the market decides to cooperate with you. :-p

Try clearing the market cache and data. Give it a minute or so to recover from having the data removed and then try the downloads again. This has worked every time for me if the download was not for an app the dev had moved. If that was the case and you want the update, just go to manage apps and uninstall the app.

Good luck.

So, i've really given the stock Slayer kernel a chance with this Rom. It's the first Slayer kernel that has run well/cool on my phone ever. Using built in overclocking (interactive) my best Quadrant score was 1000. I turned off built in overclocking installed SetCPU and on interactive governing my scores went back into 1350-1390 like when Iwas running P3Droid.

Streaming Flash video using built in OC'ing performance was horrible as well. Audio would play straight through, but the video was extremely choppy, getting a still picture every 1-3 seconds. Using the same kernel governed by SetCPU streaming Flash videos is back to how it was on previous Roms.

The stock slayer kernel is still running cool, not as cool as built in OC'ing, but acceptable and as good as P3Droid kernels on my phone.

Bottom line: Don't throw out the stock kernel without experimenting first.

+1 on this. I have been getting some terrible battery life with the Chevy ROM which is unusual for my phone, so I switched back to the slayher kernel like you mention. I don't know about battery life, but switching from the built-in governor to SetCPU is giving me Quadrant scores on par with the Chevy kernel, with none of the lag I experienced at first. So it seems the built-in OC governor may be a bit too conservative for me, but that may be a battery saving parameter by the dev, I'll have to test a while and see. Good to know that there is a way to get the snappiness and speed back with this ROM and kernel.

I just rebooted into recovery and installed the slayher kernel from the OP. The one I used is version 1.6.
