The Ultimate Droid 3.0.1 - Multiple Phones

I know this is going to sound like I'm bashing the UD creator, but honestly I'm not I repect the things they do to let us do whatever we want with our phones, especially UD. I have and probably always will use UD.

That being said. I'm using a D1 with the stock kernel that came with UD 3.0.x (have tried both) It worked fine for a week. Then the first bug showed up. I don't normally use the cam corder but I was doing some legal vandalism (authorized) and wanted to video it. The camcorder came up and recorded but did not save the video. Ok I can live with that. Then I went fishing and was taking some pics of the fish I caught. Went into the gallery and they are not there. Awesome. Later that day the phone went absolutely ape ****. It said there were no pictures at all on the SD card. Well thought it may have been the SD card. But sine the phone was going crazy and was basically unuseable. I flashed back to UD 2.5. Everything is working like butter like it always did with 2.5.

Now with again with all that being said. YEs there will be bugs yes it may take some time to fix these bugs. Completely understandable. But comp cache did not ever get fixed completely for Ud 2.5 before 3.0.x was released. I know the creators have to keep coming out with new ROMs to keep up with the competitors but come on. If I knew anything about creating them (which I don't hence the respect I give the creators.) I would focus more on quality than quantity. Yes the other guy will continue to come out with new ROMs that are basically the same but they throw a different version designation number at it and its like throwing a cat to some wild dogs, people go crazy for it. I know this ROM is completely new and am not implying anything.

Basically 2.5 was great but it was never perfected completely. I'm affraid to down load this ROM with the bugs it has then they just get disreguarded, and I'm back to the last version. Seems as though the bugs would start piling up. Like we would have to go back to (for example) 2.5 when we are trying to run 3.2, because 3.1 had this bug, and 3.0 had this bug.

Just my two cents. I'm not ranting I swear. Just concerned.

Again I have great respect for the creators of all the ROMs, Kernels, Themes, and everything else that lets us customize our phone and it greatly appreciated.

your pics and videos should still be on the sd card, they just don't show up in the gallery. i had that same problem, but i checked in root explorer and all my pics were there, i think it was under sdcard/dcim/camera

Yeah, I've got the same issue. The pics/videos are there, they just don't show up in the gallery.

Download and run SdRescan from the market. Your pics and videos will show up.

Yeah, I've got the same issue. The pics/videos are there, they just don't show up in the gallery.

Open Dev Tools run Media Scanner & wait a moment.

market keeps force closing for me. im running 3.0.1 with the honeybread theme. and this issue came up before the theme was installed so idk what the issue could be ;-; is there a fix for the market?

oh let me be clear about the force close its "android.process.media" that keeps crashing idk what that is exactly since im not a pro at modding my droid just yet lol. and the market force closing only closes when i start a download. that error i get happens every so often no matter what but every time i try to download an app it comes up right as the download starts. otherwise i can explore the market freely no issues. what exactly IS the "android.process.media"? what does it do? is it linked to googles market place only? because it also comes up when i try and use "lyrics app" which shows the lyrics for music when youre laying music with a status bar icon.

anyone have a link to the music app included in ud 3.0.1?

I ask because the music app was acting seriously weird when connected to my bluetooth car stereo. At first music would just stop playing randomly, then it just played about a second of music then paused for a second, then unpaused, paused, unpaused.....and so on.
Well I was on a road trip and I need music when I drive so I installed eliot stocker's music mod 1.6. I installed the zip file through recovery to intentionally write over the native music app included now in ud. music worked fine then.
But now that I'm done with the road trip I would like to retry the new native music app and see if I can fix the issues I was having. I liked how the new music app had album art on the lockscreen, which music mod lacks.

I'm done with it. All of a sudden today all everything does is force close. I tried fixing permissions and nothing worked. Time to find something else to out on here.

I had the same issue plus the available ram after bootup was always around 35mb free on this rom, when UD 2.5.0 setup with the same configuration is at 103mb free. I was able to free about 60mb or so but I like watching videos using 3g and remoting into my pc using logmein....could never do it well with 3.0.0 or 3.0.1. The videos were choppy at best no matter when I'd try it any logmein always closed due to out of memory errors. I'm now back to 2.5.0 again. For those thinking I'm a noob, I wiped everything three times, (dalvik too) before installing and downloaded all apps from the market on the second flash attempt. I really wanted gingerbread but now think it will be too much of a ram hog for the OG Droid. With UD 2.5.0, I'm always hovering near 100mb of ram free and runs as smooth as the day I flashed it (if not faster). I'm sure I will still flash the next version of UD as they are the best developers out there.

Just my opinion, but I think 2.5 is almost perfect. I think all the GB based roms out there right now still need a bit of trouble shooting.

If you want a near-perfect ROM with almost no bugs, then by all means stay on UD 2.5 (or PE 2.4 which is also fantastic). But if you want to try something new then give UD 3.0.1 a try (or PE 5.0 which, again is fantastic). Remember, when we put a Gingerbread ROM on our phones, we're running an OS that hasn't been released for our phones yet (and never will). So there will be bugs. But I have very few and many of them aren't related to the ROM but to apps not yet being compatible with GB).

If you decide to try this or any other GB ROM, I suggest you do a complete wipe first. And not just selecting "wipe data/cache" from within ROM Manager. Go directly into recovery (this is assuming you use CW), wipe data/factory reset, then to go Partitions Menu and format boot and system, then go to advanced and clear dalvik cache. And I personally do everything above three times each. I'm not sure if it helps, but it makes the OCD in me feel better.
